Embers of Magic is a very short visual novel that caught my attention mostly because of its setting. I follow Liana, a witch who leaves her home in a flying city and takes an airship down to the dangerous world below. The idea of a civilisation living above a corrupted Earth is interesting, and I like the contrast between the strange magical world above and the much darker place Liana is travelling into. It is a simple setup, but it gives the story a nice sense of mystery from the beginning. The biggest strength for me is the atmosphere. The game has its own fantasy setting and does a good job making the short story feel like it belongs to a much larger world. It is also connected to Brilliant Shadows, although this story takes place 300 years earlier, so there is some extra background for me to appreciate if I want to look further into the setting. I like when a short game gives me the feeling that there is more history behind what I am seeing instead of explaining absolutely everything straight away. The voice acting is another strong point. Единственный минус - иногда встречаются небольшие баги, но разработчики активно их исправляют.
