About Temple of Rust

Somewhere in a distant universe, the world went terribly wrong. Evil powers took over the planet, spilling toxic waste into the groundwater and destroying any form of empathy left among humans. In this time of chaos and destruction you escape to the outskirts of this dystopian society and find a group of outcasts resisting the powers that be. Using an ancient, primitive projectile weapon and your boots to oppose the dangers of the wasteland. Sabotage militant corporations and fight your way to the multiple cores of corruption.

Gameplay:
You start out in a central hub, the camp. From here, you can choose one of the two main characters and enter a fresh run. After unlocking more parts of the game, you will also find others that join the camp and help you on your way. In each level there is a crate containing random boots or ammunition. Between stages you'll meet a traveling merchant that offers you special upgrades, allowing you to create powerful attack combinations.

Features:
  • Procedural seeded level chunks in six unique settings
  • Fire tiny fanatic dictators, research chemicals or loaded machine guns with the sling
  • Combine upgrades for different playstyles
  • Local 2-player co-op
  • Full input customization
  • 3 difficulty settings and other accessibility features
  • Compact gameplay aimed at quick session bursts (approx. 30-60 min. per run)

nice simple game, really fun to play in co-op :)

Locking movement & shooting to the 8 cardinal directions is not doing the gameplay any favours. The charge time for the ranged attack is about the same as the amount of time it takes the slower enemies to reach you, which means that most of the time there isn't any point in doing the ranged attack. Turning this into a twinstick shooter with auto-attacks would probably make this a better game. The old 'Temple of Rust' logo looked better. Not sure why they changed it.

It's so bland and slow in terms of gameplay, I'm glad I got it for free! Just don't expect a second Hades! /10

!!!First i have to say works perfect on Steamdeck!!! Then I enjoy this game a lot, i'd say i played already 4-5h (Steam doesn't count offline hours somehow) So now about the game, the first few runs feel a little clunky but after U get used to the game rhythm it feels good an fits to the retro pixel style of the game. I finished the game now in normal difficulty, but played the most time in hard difficulty. And even i'm soulslike player its HARD so if U want a real challenge be brave and try! I will write more about that when i made it in hard. So lets talk about stuff that could be improved; i think the game starts to make the most fun after stage 1 (after first boss). So the players have to get trough it to see the actual potentical of this game. And then the farther u get the better it becomes! The sound is really good i like it! And considering this game is made by 1 person from sound->graphic everything! its crazy!!! i will play more & explore more! And for everybody that couldn't find the multiplayer its the red bus in the camp;)

THe combat is indeed janky, but you can see all the work put into the game, so have a review.
