About The 52 Fragments
The 52 Fragments is not a game for everyone. The 52 Fragments are an experimental, esoteric series of games and experiences. The project began in November of 2023 with one fragment added every few weeks until the library is complete. These games examine themes related to identity, agency, perception, and the creative process. Fragments may change over time. Replay is encouraged.
This game is not abandoned and is updating as of 2026.

Developer Note
Throughout the course of the 52 Fragments, various parts of the game emulate actions which may appear malicious. These actions are for dramatic purposes only.

I admire and respect this game to a certain extent, but I don't think it especially works. I'm not going to give it a negative review on the plain basis that I want people to try more things like this, I want this developer to try more things like this. That said, I probably wouldn't actually recommend it despite the thumbs up. The 52 Fragments isn't so much a game as a collection of digital art pieces. Non-games, statements, anti-games, etc. One game involves waiting for a literal year to make a door open, one game is a puzzle that can only be solved by editing one of the game's files, another simulates an infinite number of political decisions, then tries to make you question the missed opportunity or cost of those choices. Another is a model of the universe that you can follow a particle moving at a scale version of the speed of light through in order to impress on you just how vast it all is. Purely on paper, things like these are things I love and will always seek out. And I think some of the experiences work. The problem, I think, is that the philosophical statements are all being made at a fairly shallow level. My favorite fragments were the one based on the Milgram experi…2 found this helpful

A pretentious unpolished waste of time, frankly. As far as I know, it was abandoned.
"The 52 Fragments" is a low key asset flip at face value, but it gets worse (yes, it is possible to get even worse than just being a creatively bankrupt collection of other people's game assets). Now, we all know the disastrous consequences of amateur developers getting delusions of grandeur and incinerating $100 dumping garbage on Steam, this happens a lot (roughly 6 times a day, in fact). Worse, however, is when amateur developers with delusions of grandeur get all pretentious about their asset flips... which is what happened here. This was intended to be one of those utter garbage "augmented reality" puzzle games where you interact with clues provided around the place (not just in the game) that were intended to be added over time. One "fragment" per week for a year (hence the "52" in the title). Definitely pretentious, and definitely delusional to think gamers will stick with a garbage asset flip for a whole year. Queue Morgan Freeman voiceover: The developer abandoned the game just four months into the year. Worse, some of the clues were dumped in places where you need to share some potentially personally identifying information, like Discord. Here's a lesson for amat…
it has a great idea but otherwise i'm not sure if it's really worth it, more of a time waster and see some short games and a few somewhat possible secrets. Also at the time of this review the game isnt done since all fragments arent here and the game might be dead
The "games" are pointless and not entertaining in the least. Rating: 1/10
