About The Black Heart
It's about another world in a parallel dimension where the king and ruler has been murdered. A vicious creature called Final has ripped his heart where he stored all the power he used to create that world.
Six creatures, both from our world and the other one, chase this monster to steal the heart for their own purposes, since it's told that the bearer of the heart will weild an enormous power.
The game was all made by 1 person (Andrés Borghi) through 7 years of hard work, including graphics, programming, story, music, sound and pretty much everything. This new release celebrates the 10 year aniversary, updating the game to modern specs and with visual and audio improvements.
If you enjoy pixelated blood, fluid gameplay in Capcom style, combos, tragic and epic music, weird pictoric landscapes and complex storytelling this is the game for you!
What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players appreciate the game's story, characters, and nostalgic appeal, with some finding it an enjoyable experience overall. However, critics point out that it's a barebones fighting game with inconsistent sprite quality, unclear storytelling, input responsiveness issues that frustrate newcomers, and an unfairly difficult final boss that feels unbalanced.
One of the best fighting games I've ever played A pure shining pearl made before A.I. on an ancient engine originated on DOS! - PIXEL PERFECT PIXEL ART - it was made originally for VGA, still in VGA. No crappy pixel scaling, no crappy pixelization. - It has only 8 characters and 8 stages but each character is incredibly thought out and put together in a very believable way within its world. Incredible attention to detail in characters and stages - The game is not as combo-ridden as most modern fighting games, it is more akin to classic Street Fighter games with short combos like Light attack>Heavy attack > Special > Super, with a few chars able to chain two light attacks. - Moves, specials and super specials feels "heavy", that makes it even more satisfying when you land them on a combo - Characters are deeply touching and with very different motivations. I particularly like Hachi, an elemental of nature amid either evil, crazy or conscious-less entities. - Impressive OST and sound effects I barely played this version yet but could already feel the many QOL implemented. I have played the older version A LOT and it was already on my list of GAMING PEARLS. If you like fighting gam…1 found this helpful
Such a weird and wacky fighting game. Every character feels extremely unique and they all have a lot of charm. There's three bonus characters for the story mode (took me like 4 hours to get them), but even just the base roster is a lot of fun to mess around in. Simple MK style controls as well as fatal moves let anyone jump in and learn how to do moves easily. What a fun little game.
I played the original game back when it was released on GameJolt in 2014. It's a pretty nice fighting game, so give it a go
Developed by Andrés Borghi and published by Saibot Studios, The Black Heart is a distinctive indie fighting game that embraces the spirit of classic arcade brawlers while building an unforgettable identity through horror-inspired storytelling and grotesque fantasy. Originally crafted over the course of seven years by a single developer, the project is an impressive demonstration of passion and perseverance. Nearly every aspect of the game, including its programming, artwork, music, and overall design, reflects a unified creative vision that is rarely seen in independent productions. Rather than relying solely on nostalgia, it uses its inspirations as a foundation for something darker, stranger, and far more personal. The game's narrative centers on a parallel world thrown into chaos after its ruler is murdered and the source of his immense power, the Black Heart, is stolen by a mysterious being named Final. This single event draws together a cast of six supernatural fighters, each pursuing the artifact for reasons rooted in revenge, ambition, survival, or personal desire. Instead of presenting a straightforward tournament, the story gives every character a place within the larger …
