About The Book Of Hiro

“The Book of Hiro” is a 3D visual puzzle game developed by two independent developers. Players help Hero embark on an adventure to the palace, using illusions and perspective to solve puzzles and explore the magical world in this book.

\

The game features innovative visual puzzles that are imaginative and visually stunning. The innovative visual illusion finding gameplay involves moving the viewing angle, clicking, and other operations to find the hidden “key” pattern in the picture. Each puzzle solved can advance the plot and provide a unique gaming experience and visual impact.

\

The game features a simple and fresh 3D low-poly style that is full of childlike innocence while meticulously depicting the different scenes in the story. The game’s soothing and distant music complements the graphics to create a mysterious visual pop-up book.

\

The game features shiny gold coins, ordinary keys, hammers, gears, and other objects that are common but difficult to find due to the game’s unusual mechanics. Players must make bold guesses and not be fooled by seemingly unrelated images. They must carefully observe and remember that what they see is not necessarily what they get!

\

The game features an energetic and art-inspired storybook style. Behind the seemingly ordinary protagonist’s travel story is a hidden plot and an extraordinary experience. The game includes a main storyline and hidden endings waiting for you to explore.

Damn, I'm so proud of myself I really found the hidden ending! Usually when I'm stuck I refer to guides - but no luck here, no guides for the hidden achievements. So I had to power through anyway... But self-praise aside I had quite some fun with this game. It's a bit short and the translation into German (I bet English too) is HORRIBLE, but I still liked the story and the unique gameplay, I hadn't encountered this kind of puzzle/HOG before - you get an outline and have to turn the 3D diorama (is that the right word?) up&down, right&left until you see a combination of shapes which make up exactly that outline - when you align it, you get an item and need to figure out where to use that, afterwards you get the next outline and so forth... For the hidden achievements you'll need to play through a second time and get additional hidden clues etc. which was quite the challenge. That will unlock a different ending (I was SO excited to learn about the plot twist I expected but sadly it was kinda lame and just points to a sequel...) Well - the hunt was fun! The soundtrack is nice but very repetitive (just one short song over and over), so I just turned it off. It's quite cheap alread…

First off, the game made my Windows crash two times so I decided there wouldn't be a third time and asked for a refund. But anyway, as a puzzle game it's not that worth it, despite the beautiful presentation. In fact I'll start with the positive. The general idea is very good: a kind of popup book that can only turn its pages when you open the door within it. The book also serves as a narrator, as well as providing clues. He's a bit too talkative though, and the clues often arrive before you would want them, with no way to turn this off. And it's either that or you click on the hint symbol which straight out spoils the solution. Also the music adds to the fairytale atmosphere, but there's only one repetitive track during the whole game, which made me switch it off now and then just to take a rest from it. Now as for the puzzles themselves, there are two types: finding a corresponding shape in the background by turning the book around and paying attention to the optical illusions between the shapes, then finding where to use the object that materialized from it. The first type is the most interesting, although the shapes are often way too simple and can almost be seen in other…

The Book Of Hiro is a puzzle game, in which each chapter consists of a small but detailed 3D diorama. To progress to the next chapter, a scroll containing a 2D sketch must be found and placed on the matching part of the scene (after changing the viewpoint to align shapes, markings etc - this can be very challenging, even in the small scenes). The matching 3D object is then created e.g. a cog, key, hammer etc, which in turn can be used to reveal further scrolls, or finally to open the route to the next chapter. There are achievements for completing each chapter and for obtaining the default ending. The story has a voiced narration and is also shown in displayed text; the narration is always in Chinese (which I thought was a nice, almost musical, accompaniment to the story, even though I do not speak that language). A hint is given by the story-teller if the player seems to be stuck, and there is also a "?" button which will show the correct alignment for matching the sketch on a scroll (though the player still needs to place the scroll). There are also arrows for moving backwards or forwards to any chapter previously unlocked; these are not needed for the default ending [spoiler]…
