The Creepy Syndrome is an anthology of small horror games. You mainly play as a person who is in a therapy session, and you need to "visualize" a variety of horror-themed scenarios to experience. Due to the nature of the game, I will be discussing each scenario individually and the feelings I had while experiencing them. A Watchful Gaze (4/5) You wake up in a hallway with the only option of moving forward while occasionally coming across things on the ground that you can interact with. Some of these items are little puzzles, and others are just pieces of the story. Your character also monologues every now and then. This is pretty much the entire scenario, but the discoveries you make during this walk provide you with a different kind of unease than you would expect. The story was simple yet well done. Due to the nature of this scenario, I can't talk much about its story but just know that I really enjoyed it. The gameplay is pretty minimal in this scenario, as you can likely envision from a few details above. However, I feel like the gameplay is more of a secondary point rather than the central focus here. Due to this, I'm not going to judge the gameplay as harshly as I …11 found this helpful
A collection of four short horror experiences that are hit or miss. I really enjoyed two of these stories, but thought the other two were fairly "meh". The first in the collection, Watchful Gaze, seems to be the one the devs put the most love into, as it is the most fleshed-out in terms of story and creepiness. While I also appreciated the voice acting, being the only story to feature it, the frequent mismatch between the text and the voiceovers was somewhat off-putting. For me, the strength of the collection was the art. There are some solid ideas here that could be expanded and turned into a bigger game as well. I hope to see more from these devs.1 found this helpful
The 4 stories are... well, not scary at all, and using the vineboom sound for jump scares is just extremely lame (please, change that with an update). The best of the 4 stories was basically a FAITH "tribute" and the best of the 4 but it only got me thinking "man, FAITH was a really awesome game". I appreciate indie horror devs but I'm afraid I couldn't recommend this. For this kind of "retro" horror FAITH or The Horror Of Salazar House are way better experiences and actually scary.1 found this helpful
The Creepy Syndrome, developed by Boomfire Games and published by JanduSoft, is a retro-inspired psychological horror anthology that experiments with both narrative structure and visual style. Rather than presenting a single continuous storyline, the game unfolds through four distinct horror episodes framed by an overarching scenario in which the protagonist is being evaluated by a mysterious psychiatrist. This framing device suggests that the individual stories may represent fragmented memories, suppressed guilt, or distorted perceptions, giving the anthology a psychological undertone that ties its disparate elements together. The result is a compact but stylistically varied experience that blends nostalgia with unease. Each of the four episodes offers a self-contained scenario, with its own setting, gameplay focus, and visual identity. The stories range from unsettling explorations of abandoned spaces to strange encounters with cult-like figures and surreal, dreamlike situations that blur the line between reality and imagination. The anthology format allows the developers to experiment with tone and mechanics without committing to a single style. Some chapters lean more toward l…
Really liked the different formats of the ¨sessions¨ and the different atmospheres they brought to the table. Kind of wish a couple of the scenarios were longer but would still recommend for those looking for something short and sweet for a couple of hours of gaming
