✦ AI summary
Players praise this Vidas horror anthology for its distinctive minimalist aesthetic, psychological tension-focused approach, and variety of unique horror concepts that avoid cheap jumpscares. However, opinions diverge on the individual games—while some find the bite-sized stories creative and disturbing, others feel many lack substantial gameplay and engaging narratives, with some entries being too brief or repetitive for the asking price.
First! That joke aside, this is a decently good compilation of short Vidas horror games! There are definitely flaws here and there, but overall a good experience!3 found this helpful
A very cool little anthology of 8 bite-sized horror experiences crafted by Vidas, one of the greatest indie horror masters of steam and itch.io. Although all these games are connected by the well-known "wet" minimalistic graphic style of Vidas (one of the things that made me fall in love with his productions), each horror story offers its own particular narration that makes it truly unique and different from the others. What I appreciated the most in particular is the very light use of jumpscares, that are reduced to the minimum. The horror aspect is instead conveyed through a very intelligent use of subtle psychological tension, that slowly grows into true anxiety. The results are very disturbing stories that made me feel genuinely scared without giant random faces screaming at me for no reason. In particular I loved Mosquito Face, Garrison Broadcast and DIA, these three games are perfect, pure genius, I honestly felt terrified like never before. I also liked Queen of Cards and Ossa, they are maybe less scary but very original. Overall I strongly recommend this collection if you are into short horror sessions that do not overstay their welcome, but are memorable nonetheless. Cheer…2 found this helpful
This game is a selection of various short horror games. I played 2 of em and they were interestin'. Could've been longer for sure. I plan to finish the rest eventually. Gameplay Impressions: https://youtu.be/vWlZ9_9BPJI1 found this helpful
The Obscure Horrors collection is an interesting collecting of, of course, obscure horror games with various meanings. From a mosquito infestation to scary worlds where you are trapped indoors, this series of games kept me on my toes about what was going to come next. Mosquito Face: I enjoyed this game. The original in the demo version didn't seem like much to me - it was fascinating and interesting, but it was extremely short and didn't have much of a message. In the final version included in the obscure horrors collection, it actually has a deeper, more disturbing story to tell. With unique assets and an interesting concept, it isn't really like any game I've played. Queen of Cards: This one was short and sweet, a little quiz that you take to determine your fate. While a bit short for my tastes, I still enjoyed the concept and the final result left me a little unnerved... do they know me? I also very much enjoyed the visuals on this one. From me, to you: Is a deeper, more meaningful game and probably my favorite out of the 8. With a darker topic about a woman who looks after patients in her care, this one definitely hit me harder than the rest. The game, again, was short, but …1 found this helpful
I only liked 2 of the games in here, and I already played one of them in another anthology pack. the bone game was also fine I guess. everything else barely has any gameplay and usually has terrible plots
