The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me - Friend's Pass

This game is extremely hideous. I simply cannot comprehend how terrible it is compared to the others in that anthology. The characters are the most unlikable, dull, and bland that I have seen so far in that franchise. However, what kills this game are the bugs,numerous bugs that make it frustrating and almost unplayable. Camera movement is also horrendous; in some areas, it is impossible to explore the corridors of the hotel, especially in the later part of the game, in the maze where we get stuck. Co-op in this game is also unbearable. Many sections are bugged and tend to be skipped when one of the players progresses first. As a result, many sections can be skipped or significantly rushed simply because the other player keeps progressing through the game, which is extremely ridiculous. Yet, the game introduced many new mechanics that were interesting and added some depth to the franchise. Unfortunately, these mechanics are not used in interesting ways, therefore becoming obsolete. Nevertheless, the fact that this game still has numerous bugs after all this time is overwhelming.

The Devil in Me is the fourth entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology, which is a series of standalone horror games. All these titles share some things in common. They are mostly narrative games with choices and consequences, with QTEs and puzzles in the mix. They are on the shorter side, but designed for multiple playthroughs, since there are a lot of variations. Probably the most unique aspect is the online co-op story, since each player experiences one of two perspectives, each with their own choices. In single-player, they are represented by the Theatrical Cut (standard) and Curator's Cut (alternative) modes. Add to these collectibles and achievements, and there’s plenty to experience if you want 100%. Each game has 5 different protagonists, and all feature the Curator, a central figure who is a sort of narrator. The Devil in Me could’ve been the best game in the series so far. It returns to the slower, more psychological horror, with tension and some jump scares. The main setting is compelling: a murder hotel filled with traps and contraptions controlled by a serial killer, inspired by H. H. Holmes, considered to be America’s first serial killer. what a shame, removal of friendpass

Horrible game design, lazy writing. The game feels miserable to control; early 2000s tank controls felt more responsive. Characters have 0 depth and their interactions contribute very little to how the story unfolds. Would not ever recommend this game especially not at its current price point. They should have either hired competent developers or kept this game in the oven for at least 6 more months. Very bad game, stay away. Also, if you want to play with a friend they will need to purchase their own overpriced copy of this "game."
