The Epsilon Outcome

Interesting game. Some puzzles were not so easy to solve, but the story is pretty nice.

At first I wanted to return this game because it seemed lame. But, something was telling me to give it a better chance, so I did. And I'm glad I did, because overall it ended up being a fun little game that I became so engrossed in! I do feel like more could have been added to the last quarter of the game, as it could have been a good opportunity to extend the story and add more puzzles. Toggling back and forth between action vs looking vs selecting an object took some getting used to. I also would have liked the option to view all hot spots in a scene. But, none of my perceived limitations were deal breakers, and I would still recommend the game!

Tentative recommendation! Mildly amusing if you like goofy science fiction and a sort of retro computer game. Actually science fiction only comes late in the story. In the meantime you have a number of simple characters wandering around a very simply drawn area of woods and swamp with a couple of metal towers, a utility closet, an underground bunker, and so on. It looks simple but right and left and up and down never quite seem to match the directions chosen for the character to move. I got lost over and over. Dialog appearing on the screen is extensive, but silent. The background sounds of frogs and birds make you think you are there, but you have to move your character slowly, tediously over the paths to interact with objects and other characters, and it's possible to waste lots of time traveling about. It's hard to measure your progress. It's also apparently possible to do things out of sequence. This seemed to happen to me, and I had to go to a video walkthrough to find my place and figure out what I had missed. The lengthy chats toward the end explain how, at least in the author's mind, the mundane first part fits into a time-travel narrative. But the action almost …

Very nice game, classic point and click, gives out the vibe of 90ies games. Would recomend for all classic point n clikck lovers.

Nice throwback to the old Sierra games. Gets tricky at times, but there's a ROT1-encoded helpsheet online from the author.

The Epsilon Outcome is a wonderful and clever point & click adventure game. Kenneth A. Perrine clearly loves and understands the genre - if you have a similar feeling for these types of games, do not miss out on this thouroughly enjoyable five or six hour experience. The game has a nice sci-fi foundation, but it knows how to have fun with it. There are the hilariously far-fetched solutions to puzzles and ways to overcome obstacles any aficionado of classic P&C adventure games knows and loves, but the game is never too vague about it. The challenges will make you think and the characters will make you smile. Great game. <3
