About The Eternal Castle [REMASTERED]
Explore a post-apocalyptic Earth across atmospheric ruins and forgotten cities, choosing between meditation and combat as you search for fragments to restore humanity's space colonies. This modernized classic blends challenging action, stealth, and exploration with multiple playstyles and secrets to discover across repeatable dream sequences.

The Eternal Castle \ is an ambitious attempt to modernize an old classic in order to keep its memory alive. Through detailed research and hard work, the production team tried to expand the experience while keeping the same 'feel' and emotional flow of the original masterpiece from 1987.

The Eternal Castle [REMASTERED] is a fascinating indie title that stands out by presenting itself as a restored version of a long-lost game from the late 1980s. Developed by Leonard Menchiari, Daniele Vicinanzo, and Giulio Perrone, and published by Leonard Menchiari together with TFL Studios, the game embraces a unique concept that immediately captures attention. Rather than simply borrowing retro aesthetics, it creates the illusion of an alternate gaming history, inviting players into a world that feels like a forgotten relic unearthed decades later. This creative premise becomes one of the game's greatest strengths, giving it a distinct identity among countless retro-inspired releases. Set in a grim future where Earth has been devastated by war, environmental decline, and technological collapse, the story follows a lone scavenger returning to the ruined planet in search of a missing ally. The narrative unfolds gradually through exploration, environmental clues, and subtle storytelling rather than lengthy conversations or cutscenes. This approach encourages players to absorb details from the world around them and piece together the broader picture themselves. The result is a myst…1 found this helpful
What a striking game. I found it incredibly impressive how much you managed to express with the deliberately restrictive art style. In the short time I had with the game I rarely found myself not understanding what was happening on screen. My only point of criticism is the font on the intro text was borderline unreadable, I appreciate the attempt to recreate a retro feeling text box, but I think you might have gone slightly too far with it and an option to use a more modern font would make the game more accessible.
This game is an utter eye sore, and it's beautiful. Designed to feel like a remaster of a (corrupted) CGA game from the 80s, it brings back to life a retro experience that is really unique, not just because the limited graphics feel novel to modern eyes, but also because it creates a strange dichotomy where you both see the game world, and don't quite see the game world. Everything is recognizable, and at the same time, you never actually see the world like it truly is. This creates an air of mystique that wouldn't have been there if the game had detailed graphics, and engages your imagination. The game is a cinematic platformer, with all that it entails (clunky movement). It straddles the line between being a bit of a chore to play, and being properly challenging, and it manages not to cross that line. Overall, I'm strangely glad this game is "only" 4 hours long, so I don't have to look at its ugly face and suffer through the clunky controls, and also wish there was more of it, and would happily play a sequel. In conclusion, it's a unique game with a clear artistic vision that is well executed, and at only 4 hours of playtime, there's no reason not to give it a try.
The game looks really cool but has hard to read text at the start, and feels verry clunky to play due to its really low frame rate (its an intentional stylistic choice), theres also no modern optimisations like snapping or quick turning so every time you are walking to the left you have to stop dead in your tracks, move right and then jump to the ledge on top of you rather than just jumping whilst moving left and snapping to the ledge and moving forward, gameplays just slow and tedious and gunplay is simplistic yet overly difficult and quite frustrating. if you are into this sort of thing its probably a good game but it really wasnt for me and it all just feels too dated to be enjoyable.
Loved it, great vibe
What a blast! Incredible jump in the past. If you love Another World/Flashback go for it immediately! Beautiful art style and sound design, fantastic OST. The main game it's hard but fair, the Lost Tales mode (after end game) it's very hard, but still very good and add another few hours to the gameplay. Overall, a little masterpiece!
