The Finnish Virtual Art Gallery is not a game. It's a virtual art gallery showing off a bunch of Finnish artwork. The comical part about this is the developer was charging $5 for other people's art. Is that not, basically, a disgusting form of plagiarism? I think it is. But, for most gamers, all that matters is how good this game is. And it's not a game. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the computer rewards the player if they win, and then if the player survives, they repeat that loop. There's no loop here, no true interactive feedback. It simply is not a game, it cannot be "played". This has misleadingly been launched in the "Games" section of …
Experienced on the Oculus Quest
So this is free at least. However, there aren't that many art pieces to look at. Whole thing took me about 10 minutes and I was not going fast. You can teleport around the map. There's like 3 different locations in the map to travel to in order to see the art pieces. You're guided by a floating robot. The environment / map looks like something a kid would come up with in CS:GO Steam workshop. There are audio tidbits, but they contain no useful information, other than the date of the painting. The art scans aren't as high resolution as one would hope and they do seem a bit blurry. App is running on the Unity Engine. I was getting a steady 90 frames per second. I'm not sure if it's worth the download unless you love art or are curious about Finnish culture. Rate ?/10. No Rating.

The Finnish Virtual Art Gallery is a free VR experience. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. The dev is using Unity Game Assets to make a VR space for art, the theme don't look like an art museum. There was maybe 20 to 25 photos of art works, at the time. Try it, if you like looking at Art.
