Let's make this simple: If you play Match-3s on "Relaxed Mode" -> This is an "almost", "relaxing" type of game. If you play on Timed/Challenged -> ........... Please don't. You see... This game is both unfair and unbalanced. If you play on ANYTHING BUT RELAXED...? YOU WILL BE PUNISHED! You already know Match-3 is all luck based. FINE! But know this... This ISN'T just Match-3s! You also have... Find two/three similar cards and something similar to Mah-Jong. Still okay? Well... Here we go: This game has BATTLES. UNFAIR BATTLES. Even in "Relaxed" mode you will be gritting your teeth and your temperature will rise at the audacity of it all! Enemies will become overly overpowered. You will not only lag behind, you will replay those levels... A lot! (Relaxed mode too. Sigh.) Then! IF YOU. YES YOU! Run out moves? PUNISHMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your turn WILL BE TAKEN AND GIVEN TO THE ENEMY!!!!!!!!!!! Enemy will get A FRESH BOARD AND WILL DECIMATE YOU! They get freaking better drops than you ever will! SO! If you get an "out of moves"? RESTART RIGHT AWAY! IT'S BS! I did the game and the Mini-Game parts/Match-3 were okay. But when the battles ca…3 found this helpful
The Forgotten Land isn't terrible but it isn't good either. I really wouldn't recommend it, it's more of luck than skill and in the later levels it's pretty one sided with the battles. MEH not fun, don't waste your money.2 found this helpful
Has the randomness of any match-3 game, but the grading system effectively removes choice from you, as you have to beef up the first guy in your lineup because, once he falls, you can't get 3 stars on the level. So, you end up grinding levels over and over.
This is one of the best games I've played in recent times. I'm not really seasoned with these types of Match 3 Games yet, so I'm not sure how comparable it is to other games in its genre but I will say this - it's challenging, it's fun, and it's been worth every penny I paid for it. I'm a huge fan and would recommend. It also works perfectly well on my SteamDeck. I have 45+ hours into this game already - all on my SteamDeck - and so far, I have no complaints about how it works on the SteamDeck. I just installed and played. No special configurations.
The Forgotten Land, developed and published by rokaplay, is a dark fantasy puzzle-RPG hybrid that merges match-three mechanics with turn-based combat and light strategic progression systems. Rather than presenting itself as a pure puzzle game, it integrates RPG elements directly into its core design, creating an experience where every gem match contributes to battle outcomes, character development, and long-term advancement. The result is a layered gameplay structure that attempts to elevate familiar match-three foundations into something more tactical and progression-driven. Combat forms the heart of the experience. Each encounter unfolds on a match-three grid where colored tiles correspond to different combat actions. Matching attack tiles triggers physical strikes, defensive tiles generate protection, and special tiles activate unique character abilities. Because these actions are directly tied to board manipulation, every move requires strategic consideration. Players must weigh short-term damage output against defensive positioning or ability charging. Unlike purely casual match-three titles, random matching without foresight often leads to defeat, particularly in more diffic…
