Great game in it's day... but needs the controls re-mapping for ease of play. Currently this adds to the difficulty of the game. CONTROLS at time of post: 8-7-2024 Arrow keys are movement Enter = Inventory (Enter again to use) Left Shift = Fireball (Scrolls needed) In Combat: Enter and Arrow Left or Right = Dodge Right Shift = Jab Right Shift and Arrow Left or Right = Slice F5 Toggle Music

Not worth it. There is a pfd with instructions but it's all for the original console and since this game doesn't seem to have any controler support, the pfd is worthless. The keyboard controls are bad and you have to try and figure out combinations yourself, your character has a mind of his own when it comes to following what you want him to do and the combat is bleak and boring. Every fight is basically the same ever-repeating game of hit and dodge and when you die you have to start from the beginning. there's not much story either from what i've seen.

https://youtu.be/WY4h-iM1siE Decades later this game doesn't appear to work properly on modern PCs through DOS box, there may be a hidden gem here but it's far too buried at this point.

This version is fine in a vacuum, but there is a serious issue with the way this specific version of the game works. It's a cut-and-dried non-updated version of the original, which would normally be the ideal version, but since it has been lazily emulated (with DOS-BOX, no less. The same program I play Princess Maker and Power Dolls with off of Steam), all the same rules of said original still apply. This means that any time you want to save the game, you have to type in a specific letter found in the manual. That's fine, but the manual is digital-only, so you have to unfullscreen the game, find the letter, only to find that when the game is fullscreened again, the winder has been shoved into a quarter (if that) of the screen, because DOS-BOX can't find resolutions, apparently. If there is a way to fix this bug(?) then I have not found it yet. Aside from that, the game works fine.

Controls on this version are pretty @ss and not the great kind of pretty @ss you just want to admire for days. This definitely needs an updated version with better control mapping, but I know that is about as likely as finding a decent woman on Tindur.

It is a PC, MS-DOS port of a game that uses the Amiga / Atari control scheme with the stick direction + action button choosing the action. This is so antiquated they made Atari 2600 controller overlays for this stuff. The manual does not reflect the MS-DOS port control scheme in the slightest. Thank the makers I paid close to nothing for this one. The overall gameplay is riddled with instakill beginner's traps that necessitate the use of walkthroughs and the save system that apparently has the copy protection checks intact, meaning it might ask you for a codeword and otherwise starts you from the beginning of the game. The controls are pretty much directions (arrow keys - remember the early DOS games like doom that did not use WSAD because the right mouse hand was still free), Enter for the general confrimations and Shift for the special actions such as knifing mofugers. (Yes that is probably all the keys - the Atari 2600 stick pad had only two buttons besides the analog stick.) The framerate is jarringly slow. Every time the character moves a bit, the screen halts, lags and then updates in a crude fashion typical of ancient grid-based games. There is nothing smooth or pleasant …
