About The Lotus Holidays

The Lotus Holidays

is an experimental adventure game by Sad Mask Party, featuring an intricate, interactive story that can unfold in many unexpected ways.

It is quite weird, trippy and stylized, sometimes even bordering on surreal. But ultimately, it is a deeply personal tale, even if sneaky about it. It aspires to be an experience that is equally immersive and subversive.

The Gameplay

The gameplay is based on exploration, decision making and storytelling, with interactive dialogue and some light puzzle elements. It can also turn into a first person shooter, or even a dating simulator, but only if you want it to.

The Story

Deeply in need of a holiday, you enter and win an online contest for a free weekend at the "Lotus", a new, luxurious spa resort by the countryside.
But shortly after you arrive at the place, you essentially find yourself trapped there under increasingly dubious circumstances.

You're told that you have been infected with a rare type of virus, meaning you'll have to go through a 5-day period of 'treatment'. But the events unfolding will soon make you wonder if any of the above is true, or if you're actually trapped in a far more sinister situation.

Will you cooperate peacefully or will you try to find a way out?
It's on you.

Features:

 • A rich, engaging story with lots of unexpected twists and turns.
 • Choices matter: Depending on your actions and choices, the story can go lots of ways,
 • Deep audiovisual immersion, with a side of sci-fi existentialism.
 • Explore a large environment that is both charming and mysterious.
 • Interact with lots of quirky and shady characters. Build relationships, or don't. It's your choice.
 • Multiple endings: 7 different endings. Can you get them all?

Sad Mask Party makes some interesting games, and I feel his style of story telling is unique to him. I first found out about his games while on the hunt for surreal indie games with unique environments. I fell in love with Mango, and was excited to delve into other games created by him. The Lotus Holidays' premise intrigued me, and I decided to give it a shot.
Story:
You won a stay at the Lotus, a world renown spa! It's your lucky day!..that is, until you are forced to go on lockdown, and told you caught a deadly virus that only the staff has the cure for. What happens next is up to you. Will you fall in love, or escape on your own? The choice is up to you. The Lotus Holidays has different branching endings, with one "canon" ending. This game is very much better experienced than talked about. Saying too much will ruin the beautiful absurdity of this game, but I will say that the botanical horror themes had me hooked. Botanical horror is something I feel is not explored enough in video games, and I was pleasantly surprised to see how it was incorporated into the story. Gameplay: Explore the corridors of the Lotus's facility, talking to the other infected guests, as…

I really enjoyed the game and it was fun. It's not as trippy as its predecessor Mango, but it definitely has its charms. The maze was a bit difficult but definitely doable. All in all, I can only recommend it! Gönnt euch

This first-person exploration game has a fairly linear structure to it. To say much about the story would spoil everything, but it did keep me interested. The environments are visually wild and striking, though the characters look like oldschool blow-up dolls; it's an interesting look, if nothing else. Just be aware that this one has quite a few different endings; might be a selling point for some, but I just find that kind of thing frustrating.

Sad Mask Party has quickly become one of my favorite developers. They nail the psychedelic art style like no other. I loved the characters in this game quite a bit and really loved how the story took a quick turn.
