yeah but just prepare for certain achievements. game is not worth playing twice.

i enjoyed the atmosphere, audio, most of the gameplay, as light as it was, even most of the story. it did fall apart quite a bit with the last few scenes for me. the slant of sympathy for someone having an affair with a minor, then grooming her brother to be ok with it as well felt pretty mishandled. seemed like Nicole could have been a bit more firm on how messed up that is instead of just accepting the story her dad told Irving, that it was "love, nothing more". so Nicole's dad groomed 3 kids total including eventually his own daughter, her mom killed the one he slept with, and then instead of Nicky finding strength and solace by connecting with the only other surviving innocent involved, they end up as frenemies that both give in to the lies and off themselves. i had quite a bit that i DID like about this game and i recommend it based off how i enjoyed the majority of the experience, but I feel like the tone should have been quite different for the finale of a story about a degenerate grooming p dough who destroyed 2 families. if that sounds too rough to put to the side for the overall experience, maybe go for something like Firewatch or What Remains of Edith Finch. can still h…

The best way I can describe The Suicide of Rachel Foster is as if you took the mysterious, revelation-driven narrative of What Remains of Edith Finch, mixed it with some elements of Firewatch, and put everything inside an isolated hotel. The similarities with Firewatch are particularly noticeable in the way you interact with the environment, the tools you use, the conversations you have with a stranger over the phone, and even the way the game suddenly cuts to black at the end of a day before throwing you into another part of the hotel. And speaking of the hotel, the atmosphere is peak. The audio design in this game is genuinely fantastic. Outlast and Hunt: Showdown are probably my personal standards for excellent audio design, and I think Rachel Foster deserves to be mentioned alongside them. This isn't really a horror game in the traditional sense. There aren't constant jumpscares or enemies chasing you around. Instead, it's psychological horror. It's the kind of game that constantly makes you feel like something is wrong. You're walking through an empty hotel, hearing noises you can't quite explain, and you're always slightly on edge. A sad story, but the atmosphere is amazing. This game can make you cry. Would recommend to pick up on a sale and replace a movie night with this!

8/10 - The stand out feature is the spacial audio and just how many times it will make you look over your shoulder, in thinking that someone is in the room with you IRL. Graphics and mechanics are great ad simply developed well, to be non buggy and complete. The story path and end are nothing that you will ever predict or expect. The topics of self-harm, suicide, murder, mental health, learning disabilities and pedophilia are dealt with in a very real yet thoughtful manner. LOTS OF TRIGGER WARNINGS IN THIS GAME.
