The Lovebirds

"The Lovebirds" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. We can at least be thankful this e-book isn't about the authors imaginary anime girlfriend (you'd be amazed how many of those there are). Insead, the subject of this garbage book is about a drama play in Saint Marionette's theater, all about love and faith, and the author tries so very hard to be pretentious and edgy by breaking the fourth wall (oh so cool nobody ever did that before) and of course the author thinks he's a mental healthcare professional or something and tries to be pretentious and edgy by discussing mental health issues that he's utterly unqualified to cover. Trying to address serious issues such as mental and emotional health…

Considering some topic in Discussions and my own experience, this VN seems to be coding mess in Unity, which makes game unplayable for some people and it very slow to play. It's not made in Ren'Py (typical VN engine). I got an achievement for making 1st choice, but actually I should get that after making 2nd choice in the game. The storytelling is not good. It's not terrible, but feels just lacking of something.

Её простой, но элегантный геймплей, где игроки должны координировать движения двух влюбленных птичек, чтобы собрать сердечки и избежать препятствий, захватывает с первых минут. Визуальный стиль, выполненный в пастельных тонах и с милым дизайном персонажей, создает приятную и расслабляющую атмосферу. Несмотря на кажущуюся простоту, игра предлагает достаточное количество вызовов. Уровни постепенно усложняются, требуя от игроков все большей точности и координации. Порой, успех зависит от доли секунды и умения предвидеть траекторию движения обеих птичек. Единственным небольшим недостатком можно назвать некоторую однообразность механик ближе к концу игры. Однако, свежая и игривая концепция, в сочетании с очаровательным визуальным стилем, с лихвой компенсируют этот недостаток. 'The Lovebirds' – это прекрасный выбор для тех, кто ищет непринужденную и увлекательную игру, способную подарить несколько часов приятного времяпрепровождения. Рекомендую!

This game just isn't my taste, plain and simple. I'm sure plenty of others would find it intriguing - and I wouldn't mind watching someone else's playthrough of it - but I couldn't engage with it in a meaningful way. The text that won't continue at times, the overly edgy and migraine-inducing graphics, and the dramatic-yet-somehow-bland plot only made me feel disconnected. I would really love these developers to provide the "vibes" for a game while in collaboration with a developer who is more familiar with how to pace a story. I see potential, but the potential alone wasn't enough for me personally.
