The Mildew Children

[h1]Sights & Sounds[/h1] [h3]Awkward[/h3] [list] [*] That subtitle is basically how I'd sum up the visual presentation of [i]The Mildew Children[/i] in one word [*] Take, for example, a typical snapshot of the gameplay as you're exploring. Feel free to pull up an image search for screenshots to verify what I'm saying. To my eyes, it looks like characters are 3D-modeled and placed on scrolling 2D backgrounds. While not ugly per se, the primitive looking characters on the frankly gorgeous backdrops is a little jarring, almost like the assets are from two different games [*] Character animations are stilted and repetitive. Almost robotic. Additionally, turning around to face a different direction slingshots the screen to maintain your character's position at roughly the 1/4 width mark in the direction you're facing. Hope you're not overly prone to motion sickness [*] As a result, whenever the game is in motion, it looks and feels strange. When you're just talking to someone and can focus on the voice acting, story development, beautiful backgrounds, and expressive character portraits, though? Interesting world-building. I speak no Slavic languages, so I can't comment on the spoken accents. However, it the voices sound emotionally overwrought just like I would imagine cultists would sound. And the social hierarchy is interesting. However, I have problems with the setting, too. While I appreciate that in the modern West (and much of the rest of the world, increasingly), we infantilize children. Even 100 years ago, most of the world's children were already working. So I appreciate that children and adolescents can do much more than we allow them to do (for better and for worse). However, it is not clear how knowledge is transmitted between generations. Not for the witch-job, but all the other jobs that must take place to maintain the artefacts and practices that constitute village life. Here is my problem: I don't understand how this village is able to persist over more than a few generations. Why? How is knowledge transmitted from generation to generation if adults are killed as soon as they reach the age of majority? Who fixes the roofs? Who tends the fields? Who fells the trees for firewood and building material? Who weaves their cloth? Most importantly, who is havi…

Короче, мой первый отзыв в стиме за, кажется, 12 лет😂 игра В ЦЕЛОМ понравилась, но хочется пожелать здоровья той гусенице-искусенице что делала Успение - что бы вести ритуал нужно реально зазубрить заговор😂 это пипец, все варианты оч близки между собой, во время Успения было ничего не понятно но оч интересно. Но в целом все понравилось, хочется еще раз пройти, прочел тут что есть хороший конец у истории. Разработчикам (если вдруг увидят) желаю успехов и продолжать в том же духе!
