Players are divided on The Purge Day, with some enjoying it as a budget-friendly VR shooter with decent immersive potential despite its limitations, while others have serious concerns about the game being an asset flip that reuses purchased Unity Store assets without proper credit to original creators. The game appears to offer a few hours of entertainment for the price, but allegations of plagiarism and unoriginal content significantly undermine player trust in the developers.
Warning: Asset Flip! The Purge Day is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store assets, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers.
Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. In this case, the asset flipper ripped off a bunch of Unity assets from the Unity Asset Store and slapped them together to make a minimum viable product... a barely working VR tech demo. It's a static shooter, you just stand still and look around a stolen Unity asset pack and shoot waves of Unity asset monsters. You can't move around because the developer didn't know how to do VR locomot…

The Purge Day is a virtual reality horror shooter that reflects both the ambition and the limitations of early VR game design. Developed and published by Red Limb Studio, the game places players in a bleak, alien-ravaged world where civilization has collapsed almost overnight. You step into the role of Jack Bowman, an ordinary man caught in an extraordinary catastrophe, driven forward by the desperate need to survive and reunite with his wife. The narrative framing is simple and direct, serving primarily to give context to the relentless action rather than to unfold a deeply layered story. From the outset, The Purge Day leans heavily on immersion as its core strength. Experiencing the game in VR heightens tension significantly, as enemies approach from all directions and force constant awareness of your surroundings. Sound design plays an important role here, with alien noises, weapon effects, and environmental cues creating a sense of urgency and threat. The ruined urban environments, loosely inspired by densely populated Asian cityscapes, reinforce the feeling of a world overwhelmed by an unstoppable invasion, even if the environmental storytelling itself remains fairly sparse. …

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of y…
