The Treasure Seekers of Lady Luck

If you like the idea of being a space pirate and you enjoy visual novels then games like Treasure Seekers of Lady Luck are like candy. I enjoyed much of the game but I couldn’t help but notice some things don’t add up. You can effect various stats with your choices throughout the game such as kindness; bravery; loyalty; etc but and they will in turn mean you won’t be able to complete certain tasks in certain manners. I like that idea but in practice sometimes the game picks weird things to not allow me to do. For instance I had a very high kindness rating so at one point when I want to burn down a shed to cause a distraction the game said I failed because I was too nice. Another time I wanted to lie to a person and had the same issue, I was too kind to pull it off. Later on though I could literally murder a character in cold blood and the game was cool with it. I loved the story; I loved the interaction between different characters and I enjoyed the game overall but it’s cause and effect from the stats often felt broken. Not bad, But i'm not recommending it because this game doesn't have a ending. No real romance, odd choices making you going in circles, having to pick sides on the crew small was wierd. I'm holding any real feedback. Hopefully it continues.

The Good: -You're thrown into the action right away. Three initial paths: help others, lone wolf, selfish. -You're in a bad situation, but the author introduces a few mysteries to get you curious and play the long game. -You'll meet a crew of unique aliens. The author does a good job of establishing their personalities early, so you can support who you like. Reminds me of the TV show Farscape. -No long walls of text, usually 2-4 options per decision. -3 career paths: combat, science, or infiltration. -One of the unique features of this game is the ability to lie and use your deceptions later down the line. -Can buy items to help you on missions. You can also find items during missions. -The author sets up things early on that come back later in the game. Also later in the game you have more options tied to your stats. So for example if you're very loyal to the crew you'll have a 'loyalty option' for some decisions, in addition to the 3 regular options. Some options are greyed out if your stats is too low. A fun game, imo. I've always been a fan of the Choice Of games, and this one didn't disappoint. They really do a good job of diverse player choices that will eliminate options later on in the game if you aren't careful in your decisions. Some scenes do have you run in a circle until you make the right choice to progress, but that only happened to me once or twice in the overall game. I've only played through it once, but I'll definitely try different paths to see the different endings.
