About The Villager and the Werewolf - A jigsaw puzzle tale

Gameplay:

This jigsaw game proposes to narrate an excerpt from the tale at the end of the assembly of each of the jigsaws. In each challenge you must assemble an illustration that is present in the scene of the story, in this way, in addition to visualizing the scene, you will be able to hear an incredible narration about what is happening at that moment in the tale.

Synopsis:

Fear became an inseparable companion for all residents of Silver Village. Nobody liked to go out at night, especially during a full moon. The flickering light of torches and torches made people feel as if they were being followed. Arthur no longer rested, as his beloved wife had been one of the victims of the terrible werewolf that took away the tranquility of that place. The image of Cecilia's disfigured body constantly disturbed him, and he became increasingly obsessed with the possibility of revenge. With a plan in place, he will stop at nothing to find out who the damn being is, even if it costs his life. Will he make it?

Features:
  • Eight puzzles, each illustrating a scene from the tale;
  • Each puzzle can be divided into 60, 135, 240, 375 and 540 pieces;
  • A great soundtrack to keep you immersed in the story;
  • Zoom, pan and center the scene;
  • Button to view the full image to orient yourself;
  • Button to shuffle the pieces;
  • Hint button (makes pieces move to destination)

This is a simple puzzle game where a small bit of plot is revealed when you complete the puzzle. It tells a very short story about werewolves. You get 8 puzzles and 5 modes for each of them for a total of 40 play opportunities. Pros: Story: it's compelling to have a story told in this way. I was intrigued enough after finishing a puzzle to go to the next one. The art style is interesting, if rough. The story is read out as well as text on the screen. Play: The puzzle pieces snap together easily, which allows you to randomly drag a piece into a pile of similarly colored pieces--very helpful when you are doing one of the 500 piece puzzles and there is a big chunk of black or gray background. You can zoom in and out with the scroll wheel and move the area around the pieces around. Pieces also snap to the grid if you prefer to place them that way. You can turn the background picture on and off--if you need a reference, or do not want one. There's a button for shuffling the pieces. Cons: Story: the story is beyond simplistic--it's essentially incomplete. The same piece of the story plays when you finish a puzzle in any of the 5 modes, so you've heard it 5 times by the time you've…

The Villager and the Werewolf – A Jigsaw Puzzle Tale is an evocative and artistic narrative puzzle game developed and published by Minicactus Games. It stands apart from typical jigsaw experiences by combining traditional piece-assembly mechanics with a dark, storybook narrative that slowly unfolds as the player completes each puzzle. Rather than being just a collection of disconnected images, the game weaves its puzzles into a single coherent story—a folktale of love, loss, and vengeance set in a haunted medieval village tormented by the shadow of a monstrous werewolf. It’s a game built as much for quiet reflection as for problem-solving, and its slow, meditative pace invites players to immerse themselves in a world that is both beautiful and tragic. At its core, the gameplay revolves around completing a series of hand-illustrated jigsaw puzzles, each depicting a scene from the unfolding story. After finishing each puzzle, a narrated chapter advances the plot, introducing new twists in the grim tale of Arthur, a man consumed by grief and anger after a werewolf destroys the life he once cherished. The storytelling structure turns what could have been a simple puzzle collection int…

would be good if the audio settings apply to the cutscenes as well

Very nice jigsaw game! Cool pics! I would score it +- 9/10! This is one of the better jigsaw games I've played! See other player's reviews for pros, I agree with all of them. Constructive criticism: It would be great to be able to change the background colour, sometimes it's rather difficult to see the details of certain pieces because of the background colour. There is an issue when you zoom in. When you zoom in you can't move the screen around to other sections of screen/"board". You have to zoom out and zoom in again on another section of the screen to move around while zoomed in. The maximum option for the number of puzzle pieces is 540, it would be nice to have larger options. The option to skip the story would be nice.
