My Jigsaw Adventures - A Lost Story

I couldn't decide if I wanted this to be positive or negative, but I do think I'm going to go with not recommend. The art is beautiful, and the artist is clearly very talented, but the game was not it. There were a LOT of bugs. And since it came out 6 years ago, I doubt there will be any changes anymore. I couldn't select puzzles a couple of times and had to restart, and the game just kept finishing puzzles for me when I opened them. By the end when this happened I just stopped bothering to go back and play it. Also, I was in it for an interesting fantasy plot, but I could probably explain the plot to you in one sentence. There wasn't really much to it. A lot of the puzzles were the same as well. They were almost all landscape paintings, and almost all of them had 80% of the puzzle as open sky. Finished? Thumbs down! I didn’t like the framing story, and the artwork wasn’t as vibrant as in the first game of the series, My Jigsaw Adventures - Roads of Life. The shuffle button does not spread out the loose jigsaw pieces. It often stacks them up instead. That doesn’t really help much. If you finish all the regular puzzles in the story, you unlock some bonus puzzles, but they are disappointing because they don’t appear in the gallery if you finish them, and you can’t select the number of pieces for them. The regular puzzles have a size option ranging from 28 pieces to 1000 pieces. I think it’s wrong for a game to disable useful features without any explanation. There were a couple of glitches. Several times, I was unable to click on the puzzle I wanted to solve. To fix this, I had to exit the game and restart. In some puzzles, the loose pieces would change shape after I saved the puzzle and returned to it later. This was really annoying to come back to after sorting all the pieces by shape.

It had some annoying UI features. The zoom speed was slow, even when the setting was turned to max. The same with scroll speed to move around. The zoom level also didn't zoom in far enough. I tried doing a puzzle with 500 pieces and I had trouble seeing the pieces. However, the biggest issue I had was the one that had me stop playing: sometimes the pieces wouldn't connect. I'd see pieces that looked perfect, I'd put them together and nothing. Once I had one piece locked into the board, the other clicked right in, so they were the correct pair.

If you enjoy calm jigsaw games, this one is worth trying. The story progression after each puzzle was probably my favorite part, and there are enough gameplay settings to adjust the experience however you want. The only downside for me was that bigger puzzles became more tiring than relaxing. After a certain point it starts feeling repetitive. Also, having the reference image displayed on the side would improve the experience a lot.
