Great little game. Stages have 3 different difficulty levels, to beat them you have to first beat a few on easy to earn points, upgrade towers, then go back and do it on the harder levels with your ugpraded towers. Some things are not explained very well (like the different power towers) but for a free game it was good, and quite difficult on the harder levels.

Throbax TD is a compact tower defense game that combines traditional defensive planning with the more active responsibility of controlling a hero on the battlefield. Developed and published by Unterrainer Informatik OG, it follows an intentionally old-school philosophy, putting straightforward strategy, enemy management, tower upgrades, and direct combat ahead of elaborate presentation. Its age is noticeable in both its visual style and overall interface, but underneath that dated exterior is a surprisingly substantial campaign with enough mechanical variety to separate it from the simplest entries in the genre. The campaign consists of 50 levels and is essentially divided into two styles of tower defense. The first half introduces a circle-based system where enemies that escape the immediate defensive line remain a problem instead of simply disappearing from the map. Defeat occurs when the number of active creatures reaches the specified limit, so allowing enemies to accumulate can quickly transform an apparently manageable situation into a crisis. This creates an interesting form of pressure because every failure to eliminate a target contributes to a growing battlefield problem…

Throbax TD is a tower defense game built around the familiar idea of placing defensive units, stopping waves of enemies and gradually improving my defenses. The basic formula is easy to understand, but the challenge comes from deciding where to place towers, which upgrades to buy and how to respond as the enemy waves become stronger. The biggest strength for me is the strategic placement. A tower is only useful if I put it in the right location, so I have to think about enemy paths and make sure my defenses cover the important areas. A good layout can make a difficult wave manageable, while a poorly planned setup can quickly fall apart. The upgrade system also adds satisfying progression. I can improve my towers as I earn resources, allowing them to deal more damage or handle tougher enemies. Deciding whether to strengthen an existing tower or save for something more powerful gives each round additional strategic decisions. The increasing difficulty works well with the tower defense formula. Early waves give me time to establish my defenses, while later waves force me to adapt and make better use of the space available. At first, you may not think much of this TD... however, unlike many others (and I play every tiny bit of TD there is anywhere out there!), this make me come back and I did not regret that. It keeps getting better and better with more towers and the following maps. You do have to think strategically in this one, to manage the waves. I like the twist, that the losing condition is not based on "lives" you lose, but that you have to manage to stay below 100 enemies on the map. Definetely fun.
