Thukothea Defender

Just finished Thukothea Defender (on normal - still working through hard!). It's a fun little tower defence game with a heavy focus on effective use of special abilities and a resettable skill tree that lets you tackle levels with different strategies. The graphics might not look like much but it's a lot of fun to play. Only 6 levels and 2 difficulties so it's short but it's sweet. Resettable skill tree let's you experiment with playstyles. Fun. When you see the Leaderboards pop up, you'll note that getting to Wave 2 or 3 of a Level will Place you in the Single-Digit Ranks. This thing is Hard as Nails, as you have to Keep up with being Rushed at every single turn imaginable. The Game goes at one pace, and for someone like me with Arthritis... That basically destroys the experience. This may not be up there with Dark Souls, but this is still very hard. Interesting Tower Defense title that has its own personality with the use of drones and miners/collectors. Took me a while to get around the basic ins and outs of the game (which is fine) and, the deeper I get, the more there is to enthuse about. Tactics have to be refined all the time and you really have to think your way through. A top little Tower Defense title.

Cool tower defense with specific mechanics (not the tower that directly attack / can give a strategy to the tower / ...). It's a bit too hard but when you understand how it works, it becomes better! Graphics are ok but could be better.

I have played for a little over an hour, and as it stands I cannot recommend this offering. It seems interesting, but it also seems unfinished in some respects. The core game is very much tower defense, but with a lot of micromanaging required. In addition every unit and tower is not only vulnerable to attack, but will probably die. You gain no resources automatically but must guide units to collect them, units you dare not send out during an attack. In addition you can send out harvesters to resource areas to mine some glowing green ore, bu they are often right on the road, making collecting enough resources to make the initial purchase worthwhile almost impossible, if the resource is any distance from the base. Towers fall startlingly quick. The drones they put out are rather small and hard to keep track of, but they seem to die very easily as well. Each tower has a handful of upgrades, based on the green ore and the much more rare red ore. You can increase the number of drones, replace destroyed drones, and a few other things based on the tower type.
