TLDR: Neat blobber, a bit arcane in its delivery --- unsure if that's intended or not lol! Throne Requiem is a neat project that throws back to late 90s, early 00s gaming. There's a lack of clarity about this game that feels almost like finding an old CD-ROM game without the instructions... and those are lost to time, if they ever got posted online. Nothing has been difficult to really parse through or whatever, but to disregard the arcane qualities of the game would be unfair - as I think that level of trial and error can be a make or break deal for some players. The Good: So many options, so much unknown - if you enjoy 'solving the problem of a game', so to speak, this might be a fun egg to crack. I feel like I went harder on the other two - but it's straddling a perfect line between familiar and 'wait ... what' for me - not much more to add. The Bad: The optimization has improved but still struggles, generally lacking in QOL - not just hand-holding new-age QOL. The Ugly: A fleshed out rules or instruction manual would be nice - even if just to get a scope of the class progression... there's a lot of VERY same-y classes... about the only working and respectable thing here is the OST banger tracks, creative and even better during combat the setup of the game is kinda interesting and so is the ambience starting from the character and class system to the scenario but dear god i would at best call this a software-ruin if a game cannot even manage grid-based-movement i do not know what to say interactables and many a way are not aligned to the grid; hence when you use/interact with said objects your party gets misaligned...never seen that before in a grid-based-game then there is complete insane way how there is no explanation for even the most basic thing in the game beeing obscure is fine, but having 0 context is just bonkers i guess this game was made with some rpg-makerish tool and this extends to how it works there is no quit, no reload if you at any point want to play the game fullscreen you have to exit fullscreen mode (alt+enter) and chose grafic settings, etc. cause they are all only tied to the window i could go on and on but believe you me: even when starved for gird-based dungeoncrawlers and even when liking the trailer this is barely on the level of a student project1 found this helpful
