About Town of Zoz

After receiving a letter from his parents, Ito reluctantly returns home to help the family farm and restaurant. As he settles back into family life, Ito realizes that the once peaceful village hides an ancient secret, and the town needs his help to reveal its forbidden past, and the dark cloud that haunts them.

As you explore the area around Zoz and help the townspeople, take advantage of Ito’s skills with his trusty machete as you slash and dodge through enemies while teaming up with several trusted companions. Each one uses their own unique skills to dispatch enemies.

Food is the way to people’s hearts in Zoz, and giving townsfolk their favorite meal will increase your bonds and allow you to learn more about them. Or eat the meals yourself to gain powerful stat boosts for your next hunt.

Everyone has a story to tell, and it’s up to Ito’s mastering of the soul-infused machete and his magic-infused recipes to help them overcome their personal nightmares. Help legendary town heroes, fashionable shopkeepers, stars of the Boonbola team, leaders of a local magical sect, and speak with a Soulsmith who is able to imbue magic into weapons and tools.

This has gotta be THE MOST mixed I've ever felt on a game. The game has an absolutely stellar visual style, fantastic music, solid combat, and lovingly rendered foods. But it's all just kinda...lacking that last extra bit to make it really IDEAL. The combat just needs a little extra tech and strategy, there are only four upgrades in the whole game, the cooking and farming is basically a really involved crafting system for healing items, and the farming never really changes or anything. But like I said, it's only really stopping the game from being IDEAL. The combat, while lacking a little, is fun and strategic, the music is delightful, the visual style is impeccable, and ARGH! I really hope the devs get to do more. Maybe an expansion, or a sequel someday. I want to see what this team is really capable of with some practice. But at the end of the day, the game is fun if you're a fan of classic Zelda-style 3d brawlers of the PS2 days. It's just lacking that one little something to make it perfect.

i want to recommend this game because there are things it does that i think would be a shame to miss out on, but ultimately the combat is so unspeakably atrocious that it unfortunately makes it pretty easy to not recommend at the end of the day. The combat (of which there is a ton which made the poor design shine even more brightly) was tolerable up until i got to a certain boss that spawns adds in a very small arena that do most of your health in one hit. At this point is when I am writing this review, I will come back to the game at some point but I just couldn't stomach it anymore. Otherwise ToZ can feel like a rough game in general, feels very amateurish in its presentation and design which is trying to pull from WAY too many inspirations. Spelling mistakes, very poor autosave spots, the odd unclear mission objective, and the writing isn't very good either honestly. I like the setting, the art is great, the music is good if not a little repetitive but for the amount of combat you have to slog through in this game you are going to get frustrated by how bad it is and I just don't think its worth it.

I know i haven't play much, but I need to leave the comment NOW. It's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "low frame- rate"; it is so bad, that I am getting motion sickness. You are a 3D game, you are focusing in action and combat, and your world design is so interesting; why do you want your player to see less of your beautiful art? I do enjoy most of the game, that's why I truly hope the dev team will give us an options to turn of the low frame- rate.
