About Umbral Omen
A game of signs and symbols where you must use your wits and luck to deduce a shadowy omen.
This is a puzzle game with simple rules and strategic depth. Your goal is to figure out which symbol belongs in each space of a grid in the fewest moves possible, but you can approach this goal in many different ways. You might, for example, guess only one symbol at a time. This will give you clear feedback about each guess, but might be slower than making several guesses at once. You might focus on a single type of symbol (such as Sun) or try to clear several at once. There are a number of advanced strategies to discover and master as you experiment with the best ways to solve different puzzles.
The modifier levels will force you to develop new strategies or refine ones you have already discovered. For example, in "Stacking" you may only make guesses on the bottom row at first. This means you need to find ways to quickly gain information with small, localized guesses. By contrast, "One-by-one" only allows you to make guesses with a single symbol until you have found all of it's locations in the grid. This modifier requires gaining information about a wide area quickly, but restricts your ability to gather information about multiple symbols at once.

This game is addicting in a good way, I'm loving all the puzzles and all the different level types. It's also quite challenging if you are trying to master every level, so bonus points for that. Absolutely recommended.7 found this helpful
tl;dr - If you like mastermind you will love this game. Long review - This charming puzzle game is extremely fun. It manages to make you think while avoiding those moments where you have no clue what's going on and you need a few minutes just to parse information. It has a great atmosphere and really good music (though I wish there were more). The game manages to incentivise you to get a better "score" without doing some "Complete the previous levels in less tries to unlock more!" nonsense by unlocking cosmetics to [i]customize the game pieces themselves[/i]. There's also various different game modes to keep you from getting bored while still maintaining the core gameplay. It does have a few weird quirks (Like the button to switch pages of your previous guesses repeatedly blinking like an annoying notification even after you click on it or being unable to open the configurations menu after completing an omen, requiring you to begin a new level or open the main menu if you need to access anything in there.) and I wish the tutorial wasn't so handhold-y, but it's nothing game breaking or that can't be fixed with a QOL update. I had high hopes for this game. Though after playing, I have to agree with some of the other reviews - logic puzzles shouldn't rely more on luck than logic. There is a lot of guessing and very little clues. The puzzles you must solve in one answer are decent. But the regular levels are way too reliant on guessing.1 found this helpful
This game has a bit of a learning curve to push through... but I'm glad I did! Once you get used to the way the clues and guesses work there's a very satisfying and addictive game going on, and the different game types keep it fresh as you master the basics. Highly recommended!1 found this helpful
This is not a "puzzle game": it relies almost entirely on guesswork to solve anything. Save yourself the trouble and just put this on your [Ignore] list. This is trash.
