About Virtual Towers Online

Virtual Towers Online is an unofficial free-to-play realistic, to-scale replica of the Alton Towers theme park created in the Unreal engine. It is designed to be as close as possible using architectural plans and thousands of photo references. It has been in development for over 10+ years with a very small team, allowing players to roam freely around the park riding and getting to operate some of the available attractions in the game. Please note! This is an ongoing work-in-progress game so many features will change over time and get added or removed. There is a key shown on the maps in the game that shows which rides are available to ride and what kind of operation mode they have, for example, "Nemesis" is fully automatic so players can ride it without interacting with it, or can take complete control to operate it, whereas "Ripsaw" has only a manual control mode and whilst can be ridden, has no auto mode. There are likely to be bugs within the builds despite our best attempts at trying to remove any possibility of any issues you may experience however being such a small team, things get missed. It is unoptimized, we know it has a long way to go but it will take time with so few people working it, please give us a chance! The end goal is to have a multi-player environment where users from all over the world can interact with each other throughout the entire park, players can take on roles at attractions to operate it together, as well as a career mode where skills are developed while playing.

So this is a free game and to give it a negative review based upon the things that some players are complaining about it unfair. That being said, at the time of playing there were a lot of rides that were closed, even though the rides themselves were working, and they were fenced off along with an entire area of the park. I'm assuming that this version is based upon Alton Towers several years ago because some things are completely different now. To look at this is the spitting image of Alton Towers and I am so impressed with the detail. The coasters in this game seem to run slower than IRL but that's a small thing. The controls are relatively simple but they're not terribly intuitive and there are no instructions to explain some of the control details. The weather is a nice touch but it rained and then snowed while I was playing and as a result the game appeared very dark and it was a little difficult to see. Any rides that had dark areas in the queue line or exit path have no lights and the game has no way of lightening it up, so you're walking blind unless you know from memory where to go. I can see that this would be a nice little introduction for someone planning a visit to Alt…
