This short and free point-and-click adventure by EMPTY MESHES was developed in just three months as part of a bachelor’s thesis and is currently only available in German. Even so, I was genuinely impressed by its distinctive art style, cozy atmosphere, and the clear attention to detail throughout. The story is heartfelt, charming, and a bit melancholic. For a first project, it feels remarkably polished and offers a satisfying experience that can easily be enjoyed in a single sitting. It certainly leaves a strong impression, and I’m sure the developer, Meyley, has a bright future ahead in game development.4 found this helpful
German point-and-click has nice 2D art and full (German) voice acting throughout, but relies on tedious pixel hunting throughout its short ~1-hour length, culminating in an attempt at a tearjerker twist ending that rings hollow when the central (apparently more than platonic, though how much so is left ambiguous) relationship between two teen boys is so underdeveloped. Granted, it's free, but a game that's going for this kind of emotional heft should still offer a more satisfying narrative than this.
