About Welcome to Basingstoke
Welcome to Basingstoke is a tense roguelike that mixes stealth and arcade action. Explore the smouldering ruins of apocalyptic Basingstoke, UK, a world of extreme peril where reanimated undead and ferocious alien monsters roam!
Loot and craft as you explore. Lob a tasty sausage roll as a diversion, or poison a kebab for bait. Sneak up and knock a monster out with a whack from a cricket bat, or slice them up with a chainsaw. Tranquillize them with a dart fired from a homemade blowpipe, or set them alight with a DIY flamethrower. There's over a hundred useable items to loot or craft!
Use stealth to sneak, leftover food to distract, weapons to attack, or if all else fails, run! But be very careful - one bite and you'll be ripped apart to become a tasty snack for monsters! Violence is your last resort. Sneaking, skullduggery, and ambush are your tactics.
Basingstoke is a town in England, renowned for its charming mix of hand crafted and procedurally generated features and delightful nightlife. Explore, above and below ground, and enjoy its many attractions. Rob a parking ticket machine, vandalise a keep left sign, go shopping at the OMNImart24/7... or if things get a bit much, hide in a wheelie bin and contemplate your life's choices.
As you progress you'll unlock new characters. Start as a Tourist and capture those special moments with your selfie stick or splurge at the shops with your OmniBank GoldCard. Play as the Thief and use your Locksmith gadget to crack security panels and break safes. Each character has specialist equipment, unique crafting recipes... and hats!
The Royal Mint have issued a special commemorative set of Basingstoke themed coins to celebrate The Apocalypse. 1p, 2p, 10p, 20p and 50p coins can be yours, as well as an especially shiny pound coin. Collect them all, and a full range of achievements, trading cards, profile backgrounds and emoticons! Unfortunately we're not allowed to show you a picture in the store, you'll have to earn them by playing :)

I had to sneak and fight my way through hordes of crazed zombies. It's just like the real Basingstoke!3 found this helpful
surprisingly charming and polished game, props to devs still updating (or just finished updating) it, if it weren't for the name being previously impossible to find on steam search im sure this would've gotten more attention, im also gonna be an arsehole and ask for permadeath hardcore mode.1 found this helpful
I played for 80 minutes before card farming. The crafting system is neat, with nothing groundbreaking. The stealth system isn't well done, with enemies seeing you more often than they should. I do like the randomized level layout. The game doesn't encourage you to explore the surroundings, but it is required in order to find key cards for progression. I once threw a stick of dynamite, killed 8 zombies at once, only to come back and have 5 more show up. They weren't the snake-like creatures that spawn out of bodies. it was simply an open middle finger for me trying to be clever WITH THEIR SYSTEM. Be a stealth game, be a crafting survival game, be an action game. Just make up your mind when trying to hybrid genres. Be a crafting game with stealth and reward me for exploring. Shouldn't be difficult, yet it was. 4/10 Too frustrating to recommend, but a good class on how design went wrong.1 found this helpful
Basingstoke's answer to Shaun of the dead, grab ur greggs sandwiches and sausage rolls and Take car. Go to mum's. Kill Phil - 'Sorry.' - grab Liz, go to the Red Lion pub, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over
Hidden gem.
Surprisingly good. Encourages stealth over fighting. Dying from a single hit adds suspense and weight to your choices. Would recommend.
