Frigg has a lot to learn in the small town of Elk after life in the big city! An apprenticeship as a carpenter, a group of new, complicated friends, and a town predisposed to all kinds of difficult relationships. But they're going to find their way just like all the other off-beat immigrants to the island of Elk. It's how life is across the water.
And just as they have fun exploring all the little nooks and crannies of an old, storied island and its old, storied people, Frigg will face some tough decisions, some heartwrenching situations and a the kind of heartbreak that sits with you forever. Whether it's playing cards for candy, getting their feet wet at the beach or just sitting down to listen to a story well-told, Elk will be an adventure that Frigg will cherish for the rest of their days.
The stories in Welcome to Elk are told by the people who we know and/or were there when the events took place. All are told from memory. The way they are used both on our webpage and in the game is true to the core story but everything like names, locations and other details are changed, renamed and often re-framed to protect the real people behind them, therefore, we call them tall tales. The stories are not one-to-one like you would experience in true crime for example. They are rewritten and combined to one linear narrative. Characters may play a role in one story where they were not a part of it originally and only us who designed it will ever know – or come close to the real truth of the stories.

Going in blind I thought the game was going to just a fun, cozy island game but NO! it had so much much more. The game itself is not that long, but after getting acquainted to it, it takes you for a ride of different emotions. Some made me smile, some made me cry and some made me glad that i get to experience such a good story in such a short time. It has to be experienced to know how good and sweet this game is. Its that FRIGG-ing good. Do give it a try if you have a few hours to spare4 found this helpful
You are Frigg, a young punkish woman who now lives on the Island Elk. An Island with lots of Stuff to discover. Interesting characters with one unique secret. Uncover their stories. From funny to really dark ones and play lots of little mini games. Very unique and yet pretty charming. It´s fun. Some people might ask: How woke could it be? Actually not very much. There´s a lesbian couple of older women. So don´t worry about it. Just enjoy the game for what it wants to be. A few stories that really happened somehow and want to be told. In my personal opinion it´s a game that´s worth paying fullprice but if you see it on a sale you definetely shouldn´t even haste to pack it in your Steam basket. 12 Bucks is a good price for three to four hours of game, a good dozen stories and a recipe of one of the best hot dogs of all time. (Seriously. I´m on a diet right now but i know what i will cook my next cheat day,)2 found this helpful
Welcome to Elk is a fun, quirky story about storytelling and lots of beer drinking (I mean LOTS of beer consumption). The location is set in a fictitious town in Greenland (or, it could be a real place; I'm not sure). Here, you get to meet a whole cast of oddball characters. The stories these characters tell range from humorous to bizarre to sad and dark. And they're all based on stories gathered from people the developers met on the fringes of society. The developers use real people's authentic experiences, blending humor with darker, tragic events to explore how people move forward from trauma. I really had fun with this one. I certainly never got bored. I highly recommend this strange, zany romp set in the tiny coastal bygd of Elk (I learned a new Danish word, so I had to use it ;). So, go ahead and get this game and have fun. It's well worth the small asking price (especially while it's on sale).1 found this helpful

A fun little story with cool ragdoll characters. Definitely leans into its Nordic weirdness. However, I have it set to just replay Elk Stack over and over again. Love in game card games like this! Are you listening devs? Maybe make it a separate game or something you can choose from the main menu? Maybe it is already and I'm missing something?
