About Wickland
Morph between eight unique beasts with distinct abilities and battle opponents across classic arena maps in this fast-paced 90s-inspired FPS built around strategic beast control and map knowledge. Pick up power-ups at breakneck speed, wall-jump through shortcuts, and dominate duels or free-for-all matches in a lean, competitive shooter dedicated to old-school arena gameplay.
Main Objective
- Wickland revolves around the unique arena FPS mechanic of morphing, fighting, and killing your opponent's beasts until their human character is defeated
- Each beast you pick up has it's own armor which stacks onto your base health. In duel mode, beasts can only be picked up by 1 player at a time. Use map knowledge and strategic routing to take control of the beasts and win the match

- 6 themed arena maps
- Warm-Up (FFA Deathmatch) and Duel (1 vs 1)
- Practice offline or online against bots
Rating
4/10
Intro
It's basically if Heretic/Hexen had a multiplayer mode, that was in full 3D and had the movement of Quake 3 Arena. Unfortunately, while it's unique in that regard, there's simply not a lot on offer. Seeing as you'll have seen all there is to do within the first hour and there's a severe lack of polish to enjoy it in the long run. You're better off playing the games that inspired it.
Positives
+ Offline bots. + Dismemberment. + Good level design. + Good weapon variety. + Good aesthetics and graphics.
Negatives
- No soundtrack. - Weapons lack impact. - There's only eight maps. - Finding online matches is not easy. - Deathmatch is the only game mode.1 found this helpful
This game was so awful, I've had an unredeemed gift copy in my inventory for 10 years.
A historical art piece and example of what a real dead game with no dev support really looks like.
THIS GAME HAS NO ONLINE SERVERS ANYMORE. But it is a pretty unique take on the Quake duel formula, which is pretty rare. Would recommend for duel enthusiasts I guess, but the servers are gone. (Plus it has some UT style secondary fires- cool :)
Maybe there was some sort of idea here but the fact that the game is dead says everything
