Fun little game where you make synergistic combos with various flora and fauna for BIG NUMBER. Unfortunately there is a memory leak causing severe slowdown the longer the game goes on, I even manually capped the frame rate and it still tanks my computer after a short play session. Hopefully the developers can fix it, if so I would happily recommend after.2 found this helpful
Linear, Repetitive & Stale
While I did in fact enjoy the hexegonal strategy, once the first run was over, I realized exactly what the game was. It was an unrewarding time sink, where if you don't succeed on your first run, you get nothing. No new units, no new mayors, no new content, just a slap on the wrist followed by a "Do better next time, for a new mayor." Each path is the same, each run, unless you choose a different bracket of elements, even then being forced to choose a new card after every encounter, quickly bloats your deck, so you aim towards a beetle 200% luck or beetle $100 build to counter the default cards and stack up legendaries and specific structures that have great synergy, even then, unlocking anyone after Micha, is just... It's just such a damn chore, I played for 5 hours (steam offline mode doesn't count) and outside of just never finding a good deck or fun deck, the royalty free music and lack of atmosphere, just slowly drove me insane.
Conclusion
It wasn't really all that fun. It lacked depth and replay value that rewarded success. Too easy. I hope there will be a difficult mode.
I played a lot during the demo and beta of this game and absolutely adore it. It's a fun card game with great mechanics. Its an easy game to pick up and put down which is great with a busy schedule. There are a lot of fun synergies to make a number machine go burrrr feedback loop in the best way. I also have found the developers are super responsive on their discord which is always nice.
10/10 Idea , execution, freshness , artstyle , music. Very replayable , buy it !!
Absolutely captivating engine building roguelike city builder, tons of combos possible, ripe for dlc, I'm having a ton of fun with this and having a hard time putting it down
