About Will The Man Get Frog
Will The Man Get Frog is a semi-random writing game in which you compose haikus (japanese short poems) in a cute and soothing atmosphere. Carefully crafted constraints will help you be creative regardless of your writing skills. The minimal design gives you space to focus, explore and express yourself. No achievements, no scoring, no leaderboard. It's about you and the words spending quality time together.
A game session can take from 5 minutes to... well, hours. It all depends on how carried away you get. Sometimes you just want a little distraction, and sometimes it gets more introspective. Both are great ways to enjoy the game!

A real gem of a game. The 5-7-5 constraint of haiku already tests the limits of one's creative writing. But to limit your word set to a scant few that are mostly random? Now that is a real exercise for the brain and a tantalizing challenge. It's easy and fun to find a few humorous word combos and bang out a joke poem in a few minutes, but it's another endeavor entirely when you try to chip away at the problem and wrest a minute lexicon into something deep, meaningful, and powerful. The kigo or season word serves as the heart of the poem and the words (and their variants) make up the skeleton and flesh. It's your own creative capacity that breathes life into these bite sized creations. There's really no telling how any given haiku might turn out, and it's remarkable to me how the limited set of words forces not just minor revisions, but entire transformations. Easy tweaks are often absent, compelling the player/author to explore different approaches to distilling and expressing the poetry hidden in a miniscule and largely random vocabulary.
