zu xing

Full disclosure: the developer sent me a key for zu xing through Steam Curator. That said, here’s my honest take. I picked up zu xing looking for a small, peaceful social sim and that’s pretty much what I got. It’s a quiet forest town filled with animal characters, and the game lets you just exist there at your own pace. You can walk and run around, chop trees, smash rocks, fish, catch bugs, forage, and talk to the animals living in the town. There’s a day/night cycle, occasional rain, a railway that passes by, and a simple tracker that keeps count of everything you’ve collected. The main loop is exploring, gathering, and trying to befriend every animal you meet. It keeps things light and focused. The features a lot of players look for in this kind of game are present: Gathering activities (fishing, bugs, foraging, chopping, rocks) NPC conversations and the goal of making friends A living environment with time of day and weather A clear collection system A calm, low-pressure atmosphere At the same time, some players simply won’t care about deeper systems or long-term progression, and this game doesn’t try to force them. 🌳 “A cute forest town? Check. Adorable animals? Check. Fun social sim? Ehh… not quite. Zu Xing looks like it’s ready to steal your heart, but the charm wears off faster than you can say ‘talking wolf.’ The vibes are cozy, but the gameplay feels more like small talk at a party you didn’t really want to attend.
