Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition price: which version to buy

Bethesda sells four different things off the single Fallout 4 store page, and the Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition price is the biggest number among them. That makes it the default choice for anyone who does not stop to read, and the wrong choice for a large share of the people who click it. The difference between buying well here and buying badly is not a few percent — it is paying twice for content you already own.

This is a buying guide, not a review. What follows is the SKU ladder as Steam itself lists it, what each rung actually contains, and what our own price record for each one has been doing.

What the Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition price actually covers

Bethesda announced the Anniversary Edition in October 2025 and shipped it on 10 November 2025 across PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Its own announcement describes the package as the base game plus "the six official add-ons: Automatron, Far Harbor, Nuka-World, and the Workshop expansions", bundled with "over 150 pieces of Creation Club content" — weapons, cosmetics, gameplay tweaks and quest content — surfaced through a new in-game Creations menu.

That last part is the genuinely new bit. Creations had never been on Fallout 4 before; the mod-adjacent storefront that Skyrim and Starfield players know arrived here for the first time with this release. Everything else in the box had been purchasable since 2016.

The four SKUs on one page, and who each is for

Steam's own package data for the Fallout 4 app lists four purchasable options: the base game, Game of the Year Edition, Anniversary Edition and an Anniversary Upgrade. There is also a separate Creations Bundle sold as DLC. They are not alternatives so much as rungs, and which rung you want depends entirely on what is already in your library.

• You own nothing. The Anniversary Edition is the complete package and the only one that needs no further purchases. It is also the most expensive sticker on the page.
• You own the base game only. The Anniversary Upgrade is built for you — it adds the six add-ons and the Creations content on top of what you have.
• You own Game of the Year Edition. You already have all six add-ons. Buying the Anniversary Upgrade means buying them a second time. The Creations Bundle DLC is the piece you are missing, and it is the cheaper item.
• You own base game plus Season Pass. Same position as GOTY owners — the add-ons are yours already.

That third case is where money gets wasted, because the Upgrade is the item Steam puts in front of you on the store page and the Creations Bundle is buried in the DLC list. Check your library before you check the price.

The Season Pass route, and what the premium really buys

There is a fifth path, and it is the one worth doing the sums on: the separate Fallout 4 + Season Pass listing. That gets you the game and all six add-ons — everything in the Anniversary Edition except the Creations content — and it trades well below the Anniversary Edition today.

So the real question is not "which edition", it is what those 150-odd Creation Club items are worth to you. They are curated paid mods: weapons, armour, settlement objects, a handful of small quests. They are not a campaign. If that sounds like an afterthought, the bundle is your answer and you can stop reading.

Timing cuts the other way, though. As of today, 17 September 2026, the Season Pass bundle sits at the very top of the range we have recorded for it — it was noticeably cheaper a fortnight ago — while the Anniversary Edition sits at the bottom of its own. The gap between the two routes is unusually narrow at the moment, which is the one situation where paying up for the complete package makes sense. Compare both live before you decide, because that relationship will not hold for long.

What you should not do is buy the base game cheap and plan to add the add-ons individually later. Six separate purchases at list price is the worst arithmetic available on this page.

What our price record says today

We started tracking the Anniversary Edition listing in June 2026. As of today, 17 September 2026, the cheapest offer we can see for it is the lowest point in that entire record — it has come down steadily from a peak at the end of August. That is a real floor as far as our data goes, with the honest caveat that the record is three months long, not three years. A short history makes every low look like an all-time low, which is the trap we picked apart in what a historical low price actually means.

The base game is a different story entirely: it has been deeply discounted for most of the period we have watched it, and its floor is a long way below where it sits today. If you only want the main campaign, that gap matters more than anything on the Anniversary page.

Official stores versus keyshops

Most of the cheap Anniversary Edition offers are keyshop listings rather than official store prices, and the two sit far enough apart that which one you look at changes the answer. That is normal for Bethesda catalogue titles and it is not automatically a problem — but a bundled edition sold as a key is exactly the kind of purchase where the activation region matters. If you are not sure you like Fallout at all

Do not start at the top of the ladder. Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 both trade for pocket change and both tell you within an hour whether the series is for you — New Vegas in particular is the one people who bounced off Fallout 4's writing tend to love. Neither looks modern. Both still play.

Fallout 76 is the odd one out and worth a separate warning: it is a live multiplayer game with its own economy, it has been through years of reworks, and its price record is the most volatile of the lot. It is not a cheaper way to play Fallout 4.

If you liked Fallout 4, the obvious next purchase

Bethesda's newest first-party RPG is Starfield, and it divides the same audience almost perfectly down the middle — the settlement-building and gunplay carry over, the walking-around-a-city part does not. The bottom line

If Fallout 4 is not in your library and you want the whole thing in one purchase, buy the Anniversary Edition now rather than later — as of today it is at the lowest point in our record, and the bundle that would otherwise undercut it is at the highest point in its. If the Creation Club content is of no interest, buy the Fallout 4 + Season Pass listing instead and put the difference towards something else. If you already own Game of the Year Edition or the Season Pass, buy the Creations Bundle and nothing else; the Anniversary Upgrade would charge you again for six add-ons already sitting on your drive. And if you have never played a Fallout game, spend a fraction of the money on New Vegas first and come back to this page afterwards.
