Helldivers 2 price history: one cheap window in four months

Most of what you will read about buying this game is wrong in the same direction: it assumes a game selling a million-plus copies discounts like one. The Helldivers 2 price history we have logged says otherwise. Since 18 June 2026 we have captured the cheapest live offer every day, and as of 22 October 2026 that record holds 105 days, one genuine cheap window, and a floor that has not been broken in six weeks.

The number worth knowing: our tracked low for HELLDIVERS 2 is $19.23, set at Driffle on 29 August 2026. That is roughly 42% below what the official stores were asking at the time, and it is the only time in four months the game went anywhere near that deep.

What the Helldivers 2 price history actually looks like

Flat, with one dent. The median day across our 105-day record sat at $24.79, and the mean is within forty cents of that — which tells you the distribution has almost no tail. The most expensive day we logged was our very first, in mid-June; the cheapest was 29 August. Everything in between sits in a band about thirteen dollars wide, and the game spends most of its life in the upper half of it.

Put differently: 55 of the 105 days we tracked came in at $25 or less, 42 at $24 or less, and only 16 at under $21. Sixteen days out of a hundred and five is not a game that goes on sale. It is a game that holds a price and occasionally lets a single reseller undercut everyone else for a fortnight.

The one window that mattered

All sixteen of those sub-$21 days were consecutive: 27 August to 11 September 2026. Not a weekend flash sale, not a storefront event — a continuous sixteen-day stretch where the cheapest listing we could find sat in the nineteens and low twenties, and then it closed. Since 12 September the cheapest single day we have logged is $21.11, on 22 September, and the last ten days of our record all land within a dollar of one another.

That shape is the useful part, because it tells you what patience actually buys. If you missed late August, the thing you are waiting for is not a 70%-off event. It is another two-week reseller window, and our record suggests you get roughly one of those a season, not one a month. Anyone who read our piece on what a historical low really means will recognise the pattern: a floor set once, by one shop, and nowhere near repeated since.

Why the official stores never win this one

On 75 of the 105 days in our record we also logged which shop held the cheapest offer. Not one of them was an official storefront. Steam, the Humble Store, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store never once held the best price on this game in four months of daily checking — every low we recorded came from a key marketplace, with Driffle and Eneba trading the top slot most often, and Keycense, Loaded, Gameseal, GAMIVO, GameBillet and GamersGate each taking a turn.

That is unusual even by this site's standards. Our comparison of keyshops against official stores across 105 popular games found keyshops cheaper about 80% of the time; here it is 100% of the days we can attribute. If you have been watching the Steam page and nothing else, you have been watching the one seller our data says has never been the answer. The live comparison is on the Helldivers 2 price page.

What a realistic target price looks like

Three numbers, all read on 22 October 2026 and all from our own record rather than a storefront banner. The floor is $19.23 and has been touched once. The normal day is a little under $25. The ceiling, on the handful of days when the resellers thinned out, was within a few cents of the official figure.

So the sensible rule is: anything at or under the median is a fine buy, anything near the low is a good one, and there is no version of this game's behaviour that rewards waiting six months. Compare that with ARC Raiders, whose record over a similar window runs from a $15.87 low on 4 July 2026 to a median near $20 — a cheaper game that moves more — or with Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, which our record has had at a median under $5. Helldivers 2 is the expensive one in its own genre, and it stays that way.

Why it holds its price

Two reasons, and neither is scarcity. The first is that it never stopped selling: 1.16 million Steam reviews and a steady player population mean there has been no commercial need to cut. The second is that it is a live-service game with a cosmetic and warbond economy attached, so the base price is a gateway rather than the whole revenue line — publishers in that position discount the entrance, not the building, and only when the numbers sag.

The review trend is the one thing a buyer should weigh here. Steam has it at Mostly Positive, 76% favourable across those 1.16 million reviews, which is a long way below the Overwhelmingly Positive scores on cheaper co-op games like Deep Rock Galactic at 97% and Left 4 Dead 2 at 98%. Our own verdict is in is Helldivers 2 worth it, and the short version is that it depends entirely on whether you have three friends.

The cheaper way to scratch the same itch

If the appeal is four-player chaos rather than Helldivers 2 specifically, the price record makes the alternatives look very good. Deep Rock Galactic sits at a median of $2.44 across 115 tracked days, with a low of $1.41 on 22 September 2026 — and it leaves Game Pass on 31 October, which is a reason to buy rather than borrow it, as covered in this week's Game Pass piece. Darktide's low was $3.55 on 18 September 2026. EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 6, the closest thing to Helldivers 2's tonal ancestor, bottomed at $15.34 on 1 July 2026.

None of those is the same game. But if the plan was to spend thirty dollars on one co-op shooter, the record says you could have three of them for less and still have money left for a warbond later.

What would change the picture

Two things, and neither is a Steam sale. One is a reseller stocking up again, which is what produced the late-August window and which our daily record will catch within a day. The other is a sequel-scale content drop or a platform launch, both of which historically push a live-service game's base price down rather than up as the publisher widens the funnel.

What will not change it is an official event. We have now watched this game through a full Steam seasonal cycle without the official price ever leading our table, and there is nothing in four months of data to suggest the next one will be different. If you want to be told the moment it moves, the game page tracks it daily; our ARC Raiders piece walks through the same logic on a game that does discount.

Bottom line

Buy it under $25 and do not feel clever about waiting. The Helldivers 2 price history says the floor is $19.23, that it has been reached exactly once, in a sixteen-day window that closed on 11 September 2026, and that no official store has ever held the cheapest offer. If you are within a couple of dollars of the median, that is the deal — take it. If you want to spend less than twenty dollars on co-op this month, buy Deep Rock Galactic instead and spend the difference on nothing at all.
