About Siren's Call: Escape Velocity

✦ AI summary

Siren's Call: Escape Velocity is a visual novel where you navigate the bittersweet final summer with your supernatural-fighting friends before leaving for college, facing their desperate attempts to keep you home. With over 135,000 words of branching storytelling, mind-bending narrative twists, and unlockable true endings, it explores what it really means to say goodbye to people who've become inseparable from your identity.

As a story that begins at the end, all that's standing between you and adulthood are your old party members. Your best friends.

After a summer of deadly fights with supernatural creatures known only as "Sirens," you and your friends finally have time to relax and enjoy yourselves. But in the wreckage of a job well done...it's become obvious just how fleeting their time with you actually is. Even so, it's your job to say goodbye to each of them and go to college. It's your job to be an adult.

Still, it's five of them versus one of you. And after years of friendship and an entire summer of fighting side-by-side, these people know exactly what it takes to make you want to stay home...for just a bit longer.

A game that's designed to make you as unsure of yourself as humanly possible, Siren's Call takes full advantage of every aspect of the visual novel format to deliver a mind-warping storytelling experience. Can you get the "Hell" out of Florida? Will you reach Escape Velocity?

✦ AI summary

Siren's Call: Escape Velocity is a psychological horror visual novel that players praise for its engaging story, compelling characters, and atmospheric soundtrack that effectively builds tension and mystery throughout. While most reviewers found the narrative deeply moving with effective plot twists, some noted limited player agency in the choices presented. Players describe it as a worthwhile experience that rewards engagement and completion, though opinions on whether to purchase may depend on your tolerance for visual novels with somewhat linear storytelling.

My opinion about VN's is that they can be much more than just eroge dating sims. And Siren's Call delivers on that alright! I would not recommend this game to beginners of the medium, however. Because it is extremely off beat and may have the most unreliable narrator in the history of all faction. It's impossible to predict if people will love this or hate it... Personally i can't say i unconditionally love this game because of the extreme weirdness of it all, but i salute it for being a true original!

you have to get out of florida. you have to get out of florida. you have to get out of florida. once in a while, a game comes by that knows exactly how to shoot me in the soul. how to strike me, directly in my heart, and my mind, and every crack within my being. it's a matter of the right words, the right themes, the right place, the right time. playing through this here and now, in this moment, was like getting blasted with pinpoint accuracy. if i played this game a year ago, or a year from now, i don't know if it would feel the same. maybe it would hit softer. maybe it would hit even harder. that's how all experiences are though, in the end, i suppose. lose yourself in siren's call. you'll never know if it's a good summer for a vacation until you go.

This was quite enjoyable i must say although i do wish there was more player agency i liked all the character interactions and the conclusion as well even if some may call the trope a lil cliche but to me it was always quite obvious that what we were witnessing was not real

A friend put me onto this game and ever since playing it, it has held a special place in my library. I'm not even 100% complete but I definitely want to be. The characters and story are very intriguing and many things are not immediately clear, allowing you to form your own assumptions before brutally realizing how incredibly wrong you likely were. Excellent game in my opinion.

I am so close to giving a negative, but I can’t bc at least the game made me think a little about it near the end about how things added up (or in many cases, didn’t). It had promise. There’s some good dialogue and characters. It turned into something much less enjoyable or horror than I anticipated. It really stretched itself out too long. The main character is bad. He’s whiny and despite what you learn by the end, I didn’t care about him or his issues. In fact, the whole “team” or group of characters baby him. I can already see arguments against that, but that’s how I feel. It was not worth the hours spent. The idea was fine. Art was mostly good. The first hour was weird and I was onboard with it. But there’s so much I ended up hating by the end. Like I said, I think making me feel something, even if it’s negative is better than nothing and dropping the game (which I nearly did).

I like that one of the characters is just Fred Durst.
