Go-Go Town!

Pros: There are a ton of things to unlock and a lot to explore. There are lots of areas that have little secrets and a LOT of unlocking to do and things to collect. Decorating is fun and intuitive and you can spend a lot of time making the city look exactly how you want to. Almost everything is interactable. You can lay on a massage table, high five chickens, and eat everything you serve at the different locations. When you host a multiplayer game there are a lot of options for how much you'd like the person to be able to do. There are so many types of vehicles and you can spawn as many of them as you want. There were a LOT of moving parts, but all of the NPCs and workers worked very efficiently, and you didn't have to do much for them to know exactly what to do to run the town. I liked the cute little small plot that went alongside the story. Cons: There were some lull times where you basically have to play the game semi-idle and wait for things to happen. I wasn't expecting an idle experience with this at all. The game was shorter than I thought - around 20 hours is a bit short for a Life Sim game. I am truly having a ball playing this game. The story mode is a little lacking, but do not mistake that it is boring. If you truly enjoy crafting the town of your dreams, it has plenty to engage you so that you can unlock new items to build and rebuild all over again. Absolutely love this one.

Did not take me long to get all the achievements for this game - about 25 hours, with some idling time in between - it does seem like there are sparse information on how to obtain some of them. None of it was truly hard, but if your getting this game chances are your not in it for the achievements. The town building aspect is akin to roller coaster tycoon rather than animal crossing which i originally though about when seeing the pictures and videos. The goal is to maximize profits and joy (aptly called Ego), with sufficient hiring and placement of services (food, goods, clean-up, delivery) the town runs itself. Which doesnt really come until a few hours in, but the progression from each phase is addicting. There is a lull in between some ranks, partly because it feels like the same feeling. You build housing -> convince folks to live there -> you build the restaurant or bar or gym or whatever -> then coerce townies to take on jobs they didnt sign up for. Then you couple that simplicity with the fact that there is no complexity to the items you offer, no multistep or having two stores work together to sell something; if you were wanting more automation your not going to get it…

This game is really nice as a cozy city builder with an amazing game loop.
