血腥之日228-Vampire Martina-Bloody Day 2.28

A very good game in which you learn a lot of Taiwanese history. Most importantly it is not a gloryfication of the Kuomintang but it stands for real Taiwanese selfdetermination and working class politics.

RPG Maker strikes again! "血腥之日228-Vampire Martina-Bloody Day 2.28" is both a completely terrible name for a video game and also one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality "art" and canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. Two main issues with the games. 1. You can bug out the boss fights and get them stuck at the edge of the screen and untouchable requiring a restart (which I imagine will be very painful near the end of the game) 2. The English translation is rough, and I would suspect parts of the story and subtext will be missing as a result.

The game has an interesting story, but the English translation is not good. So it can be hard to follow, a little. It plays like a beat 'em up with a mix of the usual multiple enemy variety and then a 1v1 boss battle. Pretty cool, but occasionally the bosses get stuck on the side of the screen and you can't do anything to them. Lame sauce. But, I enjoyed it for as long as it worked properly.
