Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs

I hate this game. The inventory system, sanity management and a degree of interactivity with the world have all been removed. Most objects can't be moved, most doors are locked. It constantly crashes during loading screens (which resumes the save at the beginning of the prior chapter). Performance is awful. Every time the player character is feeling crazy there is this blurry effect that has not failed to give me a headache. I also don't think I've actually been in danger once this game, which compared to the others in the series is nuts. Edit: I can no longer finish the game, my save has corrupted after another loading screen crash and I don't care to play this again

It's a walking sim. I was hoping people were wrong. But no. It's a walking sim.

Anoðer peak game in ðe Amnesia series. My expectations weren't ðat high for ðis one as while it is an Amnesia game, it wasn't developed by Frictional ðemselves, but by a dev team who have, if I remember correctly, only released a walking simulator game before ðis, which is somewhat noticeable. However, ðe game was genuinely surprisingly good. If you liked The Dark Descent, you'll most likely like ðis one too. It's a bit shorter, but I'd say ðe lengþ was about right. Ðe main differences are ðat, again, it was developed by a team who's made a walking simulator before ðis, so ðe levels are definitely more linear and ðere aren't really many puzzles at all, and unfortunately, ðe game does not support custom stories. Even wið ðat ðough, and ðis is definitely an unpopular opinion, I do þink A Machine for Pigs was better. Time to finish: 4.5 hours.

Technical Issues. People complain about the game being too dark. The reality is that this game uses a "per level" shader for gamma. The result is that after setting gamma, you need to reset it each level. Since the gamma is actually a shader, this then causes stutters and swinging frame rates. Gameplay. People have called this a "walking simulator" - sadly this is true. I have not played the previous Amnesia game, but have plenty of experience of other titles. There is hardly any gameplay here - it is more of a (barely) interactive movie. There is almost no exploration or choice here, you are "funneled" to the next encouter - a door will be mysteriously locked until you do something, then you will be channeled to the next area. There are no puzzles, and with no invetory, you pick up thing and put thing in slot. The "thing" is often just in the next room. Gameplay also includes "hunt the pixel" - find the place to click to get event to happen. Plot. Unlike a game like say "The Medium" which some have also critized as a walking sim - the plot is very basic. You wake up with Amnesia and try to find the missing children. Unplayable. The problem here is, I like this game. But it crashes too much. Look, i don't even write reviews on games AT ALL, BUT THIS GAME, made me go out of my way to complain about it. Might recommend if the bug is fixed. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell.
