About Caffeine

Synopsis
Caffeine is a quirky first person adventure game with environmental puzzles and a touch of psychological horror.

Set in the near future, the entire population of Earth is vigorously addicted to coffee. Massive space stations built by the biggest corporations roam the stars mining minerals to create a synthetic caffeine.

You awaken aboard one of these caffeine mining stations alone. Before long you realize that you are a young boy with no memory of what has transpired on this seemingly empty space station.

Naturally you set out to explore the depths of the huge structure to figure out what exactly is going on.

Graphics
Caffeine utilities various technologies like DirectX 12, Ray traced distance field shadowing and dynamic lighting to give players a visually stunning game which looks great on low and ultra settings.

Audio
Caffeine features stunning sound design from Jonathan Wachoru (Outlast) and a serene music score by Adam Klingman of Bay Drive Sound.

Oculus Rift SupportOn release Caffeine will have full in-game Oculus Rift support by hitting alt+tab while in-game. The main menu and settings menus are currently displaying incorrectly while in stereo mode, this will be patched into the game later on in release week so we can iron out gameplay related issues first.

When you look at the credits and see how many people crowdfunded this game just for it to be one hour long and abandoned 5 years ago... I feel bad for all of them, they were probably expecting an interesting horror experience not a walking simulator were you go around in circles until you figure out where to go next. Oh, also this game doesn't save so you need to complete everything in one go or you start from the beginning. Likewise, if you encounter a glitch that kicks you out of bounds, to the beginning you go.

A game with much potential but unfortunately feels very empty. At this point in time I cannot recommend this game. The last news update we got was back in june, 2017. News, not game. I understand life is busy, especially if you're a solo dev and have a family. But we're in 2019 now, and still nothing? I consider this abandoned. A shame though, I've owned this game for a long time and had high hopes. Game is unfinished and abandoned it seems.

If you have a high end Nvidia Geforce RTX graphics card, this is actually a graphically nice game to play, graphics are the focus, the story (although still very significant) and the rest is secondary

Caffeine is a first person adventure/walking sim with a comedy/science fiction premise as apparently people in the future are addicted to caffeine and it must be mined in space. That's of course not how any of this works. Anyway, while it looks okay thanks to the venerable Unreal engine, and there's even an array of graphics tweaks, the in game assets are somewhat clunky and low poly. Speaking of clunky... the gameplay is annoyingly unpolished and the camera sways around wildly and unintuitively... it seems little gameplay testing was done. This is only the first out of a series of 3 chapters... which were supposed to be released years ago. The developer is essentially trying to get paid a whopping $11 USD for a game that's knowingly incomplete and probably never will be. Seems a bit like a scam to me. Don't waste your money on incomplete, unpolished games. At least it's not abusing Early Access... but then, launching incomplete games outside of Early Access seems even worse.

Pretty short adventure game with walking simulator style gameplay. It's a bit buggy at times, but at least it's easy to get all 11 achievements to get one more perfect game. It was supposed to get a sequel, but the devs cancelled it. Story-wise it's nothing special, some light horror elements since you're located on abandoned space station which is flooded by coffe, and puzzle elements of the game are really simple. Would I play again? No... but since I got the game in a bundle and let me get all achievements it was good for one playthrough.

It's sad, but this game is clearly abandoned. It had a cool premise and great start, but in this 'episode one,' there is basically zero content. It took me about an hour to finish it with all achievements and nothing really happens.
