"Fans of the original will love this game" is a line that is grossly misused! Anyone who was a fan of the original Amiga classic will find this awful and in almost every respect nothing to be played more than once if you even bother to finish a single game as it is that bad! from clunky fps to reworked map and mechanics that just don't in anyway respect the source material. if you liked the original simply get an emulator and play the original as this is god awful and doesn't inspire the player to go back for more and enjoy hours of fun like the original did! SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSWHERE ON OTHER BETTER DONE REMAKES LIKE FLASHBACK FOR ONE OR CHAOS ENGINE FOR ANOTHER (chaos engine is the NES version but aside from the garish bright colour scheme it is still the same game).

Fun game but BUGs on top of BUGS on top of just annoyances. In the single half hour session I played I lost my mouse, which made me have to quit and reload from my save. The mouse appeared on the menu asking if I wanted to quit, not during the game play itself. Got stuck with the store open and no way to close it. When I reloaded the game it skipped my turn. Buying something from the store randomly ended my turn a couple times. Got pushed through a wall when I got shot defending the fort. Shot a guy more than 5 times on a train and they never got hit, they had their back to me and took over the train. Computer seems to be able to do things the user can't. Controls / Key mappings aren't shown in the options, only the option of which keyboard layout you want. They are only shown right before a battle, and for only 1-2 seconds with no way to bring them back. So if you don't know what does what then you just need to try everything. Every enemy takes 2 shots to kill, unless you get a head shot, though sometimes headshots go through their heads and other times it just knocks off their hats. Remember all of this was just in the first 30 minutes of game play. I loved playing t…

i finished all four years or "levels" of the campaign in 88 minutes and theres nothing left to do. I bought this game on a sale for 3 bucks, and i still think im going to refund it. Its KINDA fun until you realize you can easily win each level in 1 turn with good troop placement. Theres just not much to do in this game and the stuff you can do is just kind of clunky and badly made. its maybe a 5.8 out of 10 game.

The ultimate Civil War board game, now with more hats and fewer loading screens! If you grew up playing the 1989 classic on the Amiga or NES, this remake is an absolute nostalgia trip. The Bluecoats: North & South is a wild, chaotic mashup of turn-based strategy, real-time tactical battles, and action-packed FPS segments. You’ll spend your turns moving your armies across the map, but the real fun begins when units clash. The real-time battles let you maneuver infantry, cavalry, and artillery to crush your enemy. Want to steal some gold? You'll have to hijack a train in a hilarious mini-game, and attacking forts feels like a classic 90s action platformer.Sure, it's not a deep, historically accurate simulator like Hearts of Iron, but that’s the charm. It’s fast-paced, occasionally goofy, and incredibly fun to play with a friend. Grab a buddy, pick your side (Union or Confederacy), and prepare to blow up a few bridges!

As a fan of the old "North & South" game of the 90s, I cannot recommend this game. It is too goofy and the result is not polished or even fun.

Poor imitation of the original. Glad it only cost a quid, as it's not remotely worth playing - far too easy, and none of the charm of the original. Also mouse control in the first person mini-games are atrocious
