About ZERO Sievert

✦ AI summary

Scavenge equipment, fight for survival, and extract from procedurally generated post-apocalyptic wastelands while upgrading your skills and gear back at your bunker base. With six biomes to explore, over 50 weapons to customize, and competing factions to align with, every run is a tense fight to survive and escape with your loot.

Thank you for over 600,000 copies sold!

Half a million players have stepped into the radioactive ruins, scavenged for precious loot, and fought tooth and nail to make it out alive. That number represents not just sales, but stories. Thousands of extraction runs, loadouts tested, factions faced, and unforgettable moments of survival and chaos. For those who are making runs into the radioactive wasteland, THANK YOU! And for those of you thinking if you should join them, well, I know 600,000 reasons why you should...

Happy hunting...The world has ended. ZERO Sievert charges you with scavenging equipment across multiple areas, all set in an atmospheric fictitious post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe setting. Your base of operations, the bunker, is filled with traders, modding stations, and areas to make your own, providing you with progression across your excursions into the wild.
Once you’re out in the wilds of the wasteland, however, the situation becomes a lot less secure. Across the six biomes of the game, you’ll initially be armed with little more than a gun and a bottle of water, after which point it’s up to you to recover items, take out bandits, and most importantly, get back alive.
And be warned; the nuclear fallout may have impacted some of the local wildlife…

Learn To Survive, Fast

With a complete new hunter experience, our tutorial takes you (loosely) by the hand and equips you with the knowledge, skills and guns you'll need to to survive and thrive in the world of ZERO Sievert.

A Wasteland to Explore

Procedurally generated maps make every journey different, with ever-changing hiding spots, loot locations, weather, and layouts. With six maps to explore, be sure to adapt and learn each one's secrets to get in, get out, and get better.

Full Weapon Modification

Hunt in a way that suits your playstyle, with over 50 unique guns and 150 mods that can be combined to make you the biggest threat in the wastes of ZERO Sievert. Create a weapon that suits your style or focus on stats to become the ultimate hunter.

Maximise Your Gear and Skills

As you survive the harsh wasteland you’ll gain experience, sharpening your skills and unlocking new ways to become a deadly hunter. The Weapon Skill System allows you to level up various weapon types, boosting stats such as reload speed, damage, movement speed, and even unlocking unique perks tailored to each weapon. Beyond weapon XP, you can level-up your hunter with unique perks to help navigate the wasteland, tackle tough challenges, and take on more enemies.

Choose your Faction

In Zakov you’ll encounter The Green Army, a group dedicated to maintaining law and order, or the Crimson Corporation, a global pharmaceutical and technology giant. As a hunter you can choose a faction, earn reputation, unlock unique faction quests, and collect special, high-tier loot to aid you in your journey throughout the wasteland!

Looting and Questing

Multiple questlines guide you through the world of ZERO Sievert. Through talking with a range of characters you’ll slowly unravel information and lore about the world that’s been left behind. Alongside this, there are more than 100 different items to loot which can be used to craft new items, upgrade your own base, and trade.

Modding & Steam Workshop

The Steam Workshop offers all new ways for you to experience the post-apocalyptic world of Zakov. Dive into a wide range of game changing mods that introduce new weapons to your arsenal, factions for you to work for, NPC’s to discover, quests, languages, and much more.

It's fun but it suffers from that issue a lot of games like this experience where you play it but find a fair bit of the game mechanics almost pointless. The balancing is all off with the trading and crafting to the point where there's almost zero point in crafting anything. You can find components to make whatever you need but at the same time even just a casual play through of a map will get you most of what you need. You can upgrade your base to get more components but do you really need to craft your own ammo when you can loot corpses or even just buy it? And you'll never be short of money because most guns you loot off enemies will sell for thousands so without even grinding you can end up with hundred of thousands of credits. So without the crafting it becomes just a run and gunner. There are different weapons to suit playthroughs and the line of sight mechanic is very good and is probably what saves this came from being forgettable but it just feels like with a little balancing the game could have been good. Why spend hours scavanging for a particular component to upgrade a part of your base when you can just find it on the map Why upgrade to get the kitchen so y…

A brilliant accomplishment of game design to capture the feeling of STALKER, tactical, and extraction shooters in 2D.

Game frequently freezes for 2-3 seconds at a time. I've tried all the troubleshooting methods I can find online, but nothing fixes it. The 3 hours I've played have been about 1h in game and 2h fixing the problem. If you buy this game make sure to test it out for an hour right away, as Steam will not refund me since it's been too long since purchase. I've seen reports of even higher end rigs than mine having the same issue, so it seems to be unrelated to hardware.

My computer is nowhere near good enough to run Tarkov, despite how much I want to try it. But I eventually came across this and thought it looked like a fun little substitution. And oh boy is it, and so much more! If you like extraction shooters and retro style top down games, then this'll surely be right up your alley. You loot, get guns and gear, customize them, put together loadouts, run around different maps, and there's even a tiny bit of base building. It can be as challenging or not so challenging as you want it to be, as you can fully customize the difficulty. All in all it's a great game worth hours and hours of fun, so if it looks interesting to you then I'd definitely recommend buying it :)
