About The Forever Winter

✦ AI summary

Scavenge and survive in a brutal war zone dominated by towering war machines, using stealth, wits, and gunplay to navigate between two warring superpowers. The dynamic battlefield shifts around you as enemy factions pursue their own agendas and react intelligently to your actions, making every run unpredictable and every choice consequential.

You’re A Small Fish In A Big Apocalypse.

Scavenge and fight for your next day alive under the shadow of gargantuan war machines. Enemies in the game can literally tower over the battlefield. To put it another way:

War. War Always Changes.

The battlefield is unpredictable thanks to The Forever Winter’s Dynamic Encounter system: enemies have their own goals and agendas, operating in coordinated groups, undertaking full-scale battles — and they’ll intelligently react to your actions. The battlefield you leave won’t be the same one you return to.

Only The Smart Survive - But Guns Help.

Use your wits, stealth, and skilled gunplay to make it out alive. Choose your path in the shadow of the two great superpowers, loot the dead, and make it out alive. While the warring factions may ignore you at first, the more disruptive you become to their goals, the more they'll seek to remove you from the equation.

A Grim Vision Of The Future.

Ecological collapse compounded by runaway technological advancement brought us here: a world choked by 40 years of industrial-scale violence between two military superpowers, unmerciful mass killing by AI automata, human-machine hybrids, and the bleak truth of human nature. There’s two sides to this war, and you’re not on either.

Experience: I haven't played much of this game so far but I do want to say. I was only about 10 minutes into this game and a stranger named billy bob joe(I think) joined my party to my surprise. He was the most wholesome kind person to a newbie in this game. I didn't know anything yet not even the controls, which he found out later when I accidently threw a grenade instead of healing. He showed me ropes and explained to me the different enemies, loot and led me through tunnels. I never got the chance to send him a friend invite :( . But I want to say that billy bob joe if your out there. Thank you. You made feel welcomed in this game and made my day. Game Review: As for my extremely early review as you can see i don't have much time but here's my scores so far out of 10: Gameplay: 6 (Gunplay can be a bit wonky and the AI have strange patterns) Graphics: 7 (Not groundbreaking but not horrible, some textures do look wonky) Atmosphere: 10 (Amazing Level design and character design) Sound: 9 (Not perfect but pretty good) Controls: 7 (The preset gamepad controls are a bit difficult. But you can change the mappings. Keyboard and mouse are pretty standard.) IF you play this gam…

In its current state - absolutely not. While the core ideas, characters, music and aesthetic are cool and good, there are numerous issues that occur that make it impossible to recommend. To be blunt - I would not buy this if I knew the current state. The game makes very poor player onboarding to many systems. The weight, volume, burden, stamina system is vague. The menus are a mess. There's not even that many systems I genuinely don't get how loadout and inventory management is such a eyesore. The faction system is almost interesting, until you realise 2 of the factions are allied, so a huge amount of time is just watching them bulldoze a third faction. Irritatingly, regardless of your reputation it's shoot on sight for you for every faction. This resulted in me maxing out my Eurasian reputation to get better prices, then watching it fall down as Eurasian cyborgs would always randomly aggro me anyway, causing me to either die, waste time running away, or shoot them (which causes reputation loss). There are tons of bugs. This is the main problem. Clipping issues. invisible terrain. Animation issues. AI issues, Weapon bugs. Loot, NPCs and other items dropping through the f…

The unique art and atmosphere alone is worth checking this one out. Game needs some de-jankifying, but it's great.

Concept good. Gameplay fun. Is a very good game. Highly recommended. Take it slow, enjoy the scenerie. Get back alive. Do not be a Hero. I Love it.

Still needs work but what's here is amazing. It's way more fun than Warframe was when it was still Early Access, has a deep rich world. devs are active on the project and regular updates are made. It's a promising title. You're not the hero in this game, a stray heavy bullet can take you out at the wrong time. You're a civilian scavenger in a 40k-esque warzone. Lots of grind and RNG but the gameloop is fun, runs don't feel crazy repetitive. At the end of it all though you are a scavenger and not at the top of the foodchain. Stealth and ambushing is the way to get a leg up to begin with. Solo friendly but no pause, lose all your stuff on death but can go get it back or buy your same loadout with the press of a button, a lot more forgiving than expected. There's jank, some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spawns on occasion but otherwise it's great fun. Paid $45ish, definitely got my moneys worth. Some of the negative reviews here are similar to Tarkovs in that Call of Duty was expected but tactics were needed.
