Whispering Willows

DNF - starts out with some annoying bits but toward the end gets seriously annoying and frustrating, but not in the fun motivating way. I would have liked to finish it but too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying.

I'm not gonna lie I could've beat this game a lot quicker than I actually did but I grew bored and fell asleep with this playing on my lap overnight. It's a pretty easy Point 'n' Click, and that's not to say I disliked it, I didn't, it was... alright. It's not that Story Rich, it's not that Atmospheric but it definitely is something.

Recommended Playtime: ~2-3 hours Whispering Willows is a charming, atmospheric 2D adventure that leans much more into spooky aesthetics than actual horror. The core mechanic of switching into a spirit form to converse with ghosts, reach hidden areas, and solve puzzles is a neat concept. The hand-drawn art style is beautiful and the story is surprisingly engaging, though the gameplay itself is very simple. The puzzles are straightforward and it is almost impossible to get genuinely stuck. The real highlight here is for achievement hunters. You can comfortably get 100% completion in a single afternoon. The vast majority of the achievements are handed to you just for progressing the story, and the few missable ones are genuinely fun Easter eggs to track down (like finding a Dark Souls bonfire reference or the hidden Mario Boo room). If you are looking for a deep, challenging puzzle game, this might not be for you. But if you want a short, relaxing ghost story to knock out in one sitting and an easy perfect game to add to your Steam Game Profile or Artwork Showcase, it is definitely worth picking up.

I liked it, it has an interesting story, great musical score and terrific ambiance. And a few jump-scares too!

Pretty Good

This game is bad, very bad. I'm gonna start by saying a good thing about it before i say why it's bad. The scenarios are generally well-drawn and have some nice details. That's the only good thing this game has. The gameplay. It's boring as all hell. You will be mainly slowly walking, since the game only lets you run on the outside parts of the map, like the garden or the maze, and while inside the mansion or anywhere with a roof, your running ability gets locked out. If you try to run, the character will do a "na-ah" and literally refuse to run. And the worst part? This is a game that heavily relies on exploration and backtracking, so i think you can see the problem. The difficult. There isn't any difficult in here. Every puzzle seems to be made for toddlers, no joking. The most difficult part for me was to stay awake during my playthrough. :p The characters you interact with (NPCs). They exist, i guess. Every single character you interact with is nothing more than a prop with some generic speech balloons attached to them. The most egregious case comes from the main character, who has the charisma of a banana peel, and the main villain, who probably has at least a hundred degr…
