If you are NEW to this game do not purchase!!! You cannot register to play online unless you have a previous account. I used to play this game back in the days and later in time it requested an email/account to continue playing. I registered an email then one day the support for this game ended and I couldn't find my account. Seemed like Novalogic deleted it. I recently revisited this game and wanted to play it but every attempt to do so has led me to nothing.

Joint Operations: Combined Arms Gold is a complete military shooter package developed by NovaLogic and published by NovaLogic and THQ Nordic. Combining Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising with its Escalation expansion, the collection showcases one of the earliest first-person shooters to prioritize massive online warfare over small-scale firefights. The Best Game ever made

This game was ahead of it's time when it came out. Especially the multiplayer aspect. Sadly, it is no longer supported and the only way to play it as multiplayer is to create a LAN with some friends, and this can be hit and miss with any friends trying to join often being unable to. The single player campaigns are kind of fun merely for nostalgic reasons but unless you have 50+ friends with some technical ability all willing to mess about at the same time, you will not have the original experience. A friend and I got all nostalgic and thought we'd revive our old glory days, however we're both resigned to basicaly wandering around the old maps saying "Remember this place when we...". Honestly, the fact it is no longer supported (I don't think Novalogic is even a thing anymore) makes it pointless and Steam should be ashamed of themselves for selling it.

Throwback fun

Amazing game-flow compared to most games today. Joint Operations is a game I still have a real soft spot for because it captures a kind of large-scale shooter style that few games have matched (the game closest to comparison is ARMA and even that doesn't quite capture what Joint Operations is.) - You are not just spawning into a fight; you are being flown in by helicopters, carried across rivers in boats, or pushed forward in APCs with an entire squad around you. - The transport-first vehicle design is one of its best qualities. Helicopters, boats, hovercraft, jeeps, and armored vehicles are not just there to rack up kills but they are how the battle moves. Not to mention the fact that you can litteraly drive a jeep into a chinook at base and drop it off near combat zones. A good pilot or driver can completely change the flow of a match by getting troops into the right place at the right time. - I also love the tropical setting. The jungles, islands, rivers, villages, that give the game a look and feeling that is instantly recognizable. - Combat is medium paced, getting back into the fight is quick but not instant.
