Medal of Honor: Airborne

Shame that EA removed this from the Steam store but I still recommend anyone somehow reading this to pirate it somewhere. A classic game that tried something really different with a semi-open world. You drop in anywhere you desire and tackle objectives in any order you see fit. The game lacks amount of levels, but makes up with the level of detail and scale of each level itself. A decent variety of weapons are available but the balancing leaves a lot to be desired especially in the weapon spread department. The story is simple, every mission is based on a real world operation during WWII. But of course creative liberty was taken with how certain events unfolded and especially one enemy type present in the later half of the game. The AI does behave a little weird with some predictable patterns but thankfully they actually move about pretty frequently instead of just standing still to shoot at you constantly. The game tries to prevent the whole super soldier feeling by demanding the use of crouching behind cover and peeking, especially in the higher difficulties where you get shredded instantly out of cover. 6/10 Pretty decent old school Medal of Honor game. One of the last ones sadly. Paradropping was so fun to do in this game and the combat was excellent... until it wasn't. They decided to ere on the side of "game" over realism like previous Medal of Honor games. They added a tiered enemy system ranging from 1-10 with each enemy getting more and more bullet spongy. So the beginning of the game is amazing when your in Italy as apparently only the Italians react to bullets. It's just not fun at the end of the game when you've shot a guy 10 times in the head, but "I have a gas mask on therefore it doesn't hurt". It's... yeah... that's about it.

An all time great

I finally beat this game for me and my late childhood friend, decades after we first started playing it together.

Leave it to EA to get rid of my beloved fps games like this one and bad company 2. Seriously, screw EA. On another note if you could still find this game I'd say it's worth a try. The gunplay is pretty satisfying and I love that when you get a certain number of kills you get upgrades for your weapons. The campaign is pretty short, but I thought it was enjoyable for the most part... (damn panzershrek troopers and storm elites). Good luck to anyone trying to find and play this game now. It's a good medal of honor game, but I still prefer the ps2 era games over this one.
