The platforming is extremely easy, and players can readily identify with the young, sometimes reckless heroine as she goes through various adventures, encounters, choices, and mistakes, each of which she learns and grows from. A truly beautiful game. I definitely recommend it!

Was a very well written and acted interactive story game. I appreciate games that are more story focused and this was very good and enjoyable! It was also very relaxing to play with nice music. I liked how it interwove the journal and the game world durning each chapter and drew you into the story. My mother died when I was in high school so the theme of loss of a loved one really connected with me. I probably would of really benefited from playing this game at that time, so I could see this game as a useful therapy tool for loss. I went through all the stages of grief long ago on my own, but I hope this game could help someone younger. As a game I just wish it had more magic words to use to make it a bit more challenging and complex. Most of the game was really easy and simple with what you were supposed to do. You usually only had 2-3 words to use at any one time. Only the final Chapter was there any parts that took any time to figure out what to do and you could still use all the few words anyway to try them so I don't think it would even stump a young person. I don't know how i stumbled upon this game but i'm glad i did because i ended up enjoying it way more than i thought i would. Obviously the gorgeous visuals are what drew me in initially and they delivered with nice vistas and gorgeous lighting for the 2.5D parts and clever usage of watercolour for the diary sections. The music was also beautiful which makes me glad i picked up the OST along with my copy of the game. Sound effects on the other hand were pretty weak although the voice acting itself was very strong. This leads me to the game's best trait and whatmanaged to pleasantly suprise me; the story. The pacing and writing is excellent with a theme i'm all too familiar with, grief. Particularly the grief of losing a grandparent. One part especially drew a few tears which is VERY rare for me, i guess i just miss them that much. As for gameplay using words to solve puzzles with logic is a unique concept that was fun but worked great narratively as well. The game ran fine on a technical level with no major bugs or fps drops, although animations were a bit janky at times. It's cheap on sale and easy to 100% with postgame chapter select. Worth playing if only for the touching story…

Lost Words: Beyond the Page is such a powerful and meaningful gaming experience. While it doesn't offer a lot in terms of traditional gameplay, it makes up for it with its music, story, artistic vision, and the many messages it tries to convey. I also want to emphasize that, despite not offering much on the gameplay side, I don't believe the game is boring or anything of the sort. In fact, I'm very impressed by the inventive ways in which the player can interact with the world and the story. Lost Words: Beyond the Page tells a story about learning to be okay with things ending, and about understanding that an ending isn't necessarily a bad thing because something new can come afterward. It also does an excellent job of portraying the feeling of helplessness you can experience when facing drama and trauma as a child. The game resonated with many of my own experiences growing up, especially that feeling of being powerless as a stream of events unfolds around you. It also reminded me of my grandfather and all the things I wish I could have done with him before he passed away. I still think about him almost every day. This is a beautiful game about grief and healing. You truly feel like you're a part of the narrative, writing the story together with Izzy. The skill and creativity of the whole team are out of this world and the message that the game sends is one to remember. Everyone should play this game at least once in their life.
