Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space

Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space is a compact space exploration adventure that manages to capture the excitement of discovering an unpredictable galaxy without demanding dozens of hours from the player. Developed and published by Digital Eel, the game combines randomized exploration, roguelike elements, tactical decision-making, equipment collection, and real-time spacecraft combat into expeditions designed to be completed relatively quickly. Instead of building an enormous persistent galactic empire, the experience focuses on individual voyages where the objective is to explore as much as possible, uncover valuable discoveries, survive dangerous encounters, and return with something worthwhile. The randomly generated galaxy is central to the experience. Each expedition rearranges stars, encounters, alien civilizations, unusual lifeforms, artifacts, hazards, and other discoveries, meaning that a familiar strategy cannot simply be repeated indefinitely. One journey might provide powerful technology almost immediately, while another can leave the player poorly equipped when a dangerous encounter appears. runs pretty well on low end pc's, it's a "dumb little game" which also happens to be fun, i've got mine for free but for a dollar it's worth the 5 - 6 hours of fun you'll have outta this.

The variety and distribution of what you'll find is interesting. There is a certain level of humor, if you get it, that is entertaining. Each session doesn't take long, maybe 10-20 minutes. There is combat but there are creative ways to avoid it if you're smart! Then, there are random events, some timed, where you have to defeat an enemy that appears in order to win. I think it's fun to play.

This game's demo was a nostalgic staple for me, back when I had very few games to play on my family's Mac :D It remains pretty great and enjoyable, though without a ton of depths. Pretty sure there are mods though!
