Descend through randomly generated platformer stages as a customizable hero, using strategic skill combinations and destructible terrain to overcome procedurally varied enemies and bosses. An HD remake of the cult classic webgame, it blends roguelike progression with tactical combat that rewards planning over reflexes, backed by Nerdook's distinctive solo-developed aesthetic and full co-op support.
Vertical Drop Heroes is a procedural platformer RPG hybrid with roguelike elements, where your hero adventures through randomly generated stages. Armed with a variety of skills and traits, you must use your cunning and reflexes to survive the dangers of each stage, until you face the final boss and uncover the truth behind the game!

The Rogue Legacy comparison is unavoidable, but the vertical runs are short enough that you always get to something interesting fast, and the pacifist sigils genuinely changed how I approach levels once I realized skipping fights pays out too. Combat is on the shallow side, mostly about standing in the right spot and swinging, and by the time I was replaying Goblin Forest for the fifteenth time the repetition had set in. Still, the trait and ability rolls kept surprising me, teleporting a boss into lava never got old, and for the price it's an easy yes if you want something you can play in twenty minute chunks.
+Some player choice -Game starts with a main menu that you cannot get past with mouse without any indication that you should use keyboard? -> UX/UI issues -Runs poorly; feels like it's limited to 30 FPS -Did not drive me to play more -Incremental roguelite, not my cup of tea. Expected more of a roguelike-experience. Someone compared this to Rogue Legacy. That's 10x better game - then again likely 10x the price too. =Neutral review, but since I would not recommend such game for myself, I won't do it to you either.

i have a huge nostalgia for nerdooks games but this one is frustrating it just doesnt beat the original, it doesnt even come close to comparing and its so frustrating as i was a huge fan of this game as a child
